Replacement of Black Mesh on Office Chair
Admin October 14, 2026
To replace the black mesh (mesh surface) on an office chair, you will need materials such as a screwdriver, a new mesh surface, spare screws, new trim or elastic bands, and scissors. The operation steps are as follows:

I. Removing the Old Mesh Surface
- Invert the office chair steadily to ensure it does not tip over during the operation.
- Use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws securing the old mesh surface. Some screws may be covered by stickers on the bottom, so remove the stickers before proceeding. If the chair back and seat are connected by screws, first remove the connecting screws, then cut the original mesh from the chair back and seat, and remove the trim or elastic bands securing the mesh.
- During disassembly, keep the screws safe to avoid losing them. If a screw becomes stripped or damaged, use a spare screw for replacement.
II. Cleaning the Frame
- Wipe the chair frame with a clean, soft cloth to remove residual dust, glue, or fragments of the old mesh surface.
- Check the frame for cracks, deformation, or rust. If the frame is severely damaged, repair or replace it before installing the new mesh surface.
III. Installing the New Mesh Surface
- Screw Fixation Method:
- Place the new mesh surface flat over the frame, aligning the screw holes.
- Initially secure all screws to ensure the mesh surface is correctly positioned without misalignment.
- Adjust the mesh surface to be flat and wrinkle-free, then tighten the screws one by one. When tightening the screws, apply even force to avoid deforming the frame or stripping the screws due to excessive force.
- Trim/Elastic Band Binding Method:
- Place the new mesh surface flat and smooth on the chair back and seat.
- Use new trim or elastic bands to bind the edges of the mesh in order, ensuring the binding is firm and appropriately tight. Avoid binding too tightly, which can deform the mesh surface, or too loosely, which can make the mesh surface loose.
Precautions
- Size Matching: Before purchasing a new mesh surface, accurately measure the length, width, and hole spacing of the original chair surface to ensure the new mesh surface fully matches the frame.
- Material Selection: It is recommended to choose the same color and material as the original mesh to maintain the overall aesthetics and comfort of the office chair.
- Operational Safety: Avoid using sharp tools to scratch the surface of the chair frame during replacement; if unsure about the operation steps, it is advisable to contact the manufacturer's after-sales service or a professional repair technician for assistance.
- Subsequent Inspection: After installation, check if the mesh surface is flat, if the screws are tightened, if the binding is firm, and test if the chair's load-bearing capacity and elasticity are normal.
If you encounter complex issues (such as frame damage, misaligned screw holes, etc.), refer to the product manual or contact the manufacturer for technical support.
