Office Chair Black Cloth

Admin October 12, 2026

The black cloth commonly used under office chairs is typically made of two materials: non-woven fabric and high-density polyester.

Non-woven fabric: The production process of non-woven fabric is similar to that of compacted marshmallows, where polyester or polypropylene fibers are pressed into shape under high temperatures. This material offers significant price advantages, with low costs suitable for large-scale applications. At the same time, it has good breathability, allowing air to circulate freely between the fibers, helping to keep the bottom of the office chair dry and reducing stuffiness. Additionally, non-woven fabric is a naturally degradable material, relatively friendly to the environment, and aligns with current green and eco-friendly concepts. It is a common choice in older furniture. However, non-woven fabric also has some drawbacks; due to its relatively loose fiber structure, after about three to five years of use, the fibers can gradually fall off, resulting in a phenomenon of shedding, which affects aesthetics and user experience.

High-density polyester: High-density polyester has a texture similar to tightly woven fishing nets, with a weight per square meter exceeding 100 grams. This tight structure gives it excellent durability. It has strong resistance to pulling, and in daily use, even when subjected to significant external force, it is not prone to deformation, maintaining the stability and comfort of the chair. At the same time, high-density polyester has good moisture resistance; in humid environments, such as heated floors or during the rainy season in southern China, it does not absorb excessive moisture and develop mold, effectively extending the lifespan of the office chair. Among office chairs priced at over a thousand yuan, high-density polyester is a commonly used bottom fabric. Manufacturers choose black as the color for this material primarily because black has strong dirt resistance, capable of hiding dust and stains, reducing the frequency of cleaning. Moreover, when polyester is dyed black, the pigment adheres firmly to the fibers, making it less prone to fading even after prolonged use and friction, ensuring that the color of the office chair remains vibrant for up to ten years.
