Office Chair Black Cloth

Admin October 08, 2026

The common materials for the black cloth under office chairs include non-woven fabric and high-density polyester. Oxidation may occur in coated fabrics such as nylon or polyester (polyester fiber) coated cloth.

Non-woven Fabric

Non-woven fabric is one of the common materials for the black cloth under office chairs. It is formed by pressing polyester or polypropylene fibers at high temperatures. This material has many advantages, with low cost being one of its notable features, making it a good choice for office chair production and use that pursue cost-effectiveness. At the same time, it has good air permeability, allowing air to circulate at the bottom of the chair, reducing stuffiness, and enhancing user comfort. Moreover, non-woven fabric can be naturally degraded, which is relatively friendly to the environment. However, non-woven fabric also has certain limitations. After three to five years of use, it is prone to shedding debris, which may affect the cleanliness of the office environment and may also cause wear and tear on the floor.

High-density Polyester

High-density polyester is also a commonly used material for the black cloth at the bottom of office chairs. Its appearance is similar to a tightly woven fishing net, with a weight of over 100 grams per square meter. This material has excellent durability, being resistant to wear and tear and maintaining its shape and structure even when subjected to external pulling forces during daily use. It will not mold even when damp, making it very suitable for use in environments with high humidity such as underfloor heating rooms and southern rainy seasons. Many high-end office chairs choose high-density polyester as the material for the black cloth at the bottom. Its black appearance is not only dirt-resistant but also has firm dyeing, which will not fade even after ten years of use, maintaining a good appearance for a long time.

Oxidized Coated Fabric

If the black cloth under an office chair shows signs of oxidation, it is likely a type of coated fabric. It may be nylon or polyester (polyester fiber) coated cloth that has undergone oxidation treatment. Oxidation refers to the aging phenomenon where the coating on the fabric surface changes in color, loses its luster, or develops fine cracks due to long-term use, environmental factors (such as humidity, temperature, and light), or contact with chemicals. This oxidation not only affects the aesthetics of the office chair but may also reduce the lifespan of the fabric.
