Office Chair Bench Depth

Admin October 16, 2026

The depth of office chair benches generally ranges from 40 cm to 70 cm, with specific values varying depending on the type of chair.

The depth of a chair refers to the depth in the front-to-back direction, a parameter that directly affects the user's sitting comfort and health. For office chairs, the design of depth is particularly important as it needs to meet the demands of prolonged sitting while helping users maintain correct posture and reduce physical fatigue and injury.

The seat depth of a standard office chair is usually around 55 cm. This size can meet the basic needs of most people, providing sufficient leg support space, allowing users to maintain a natural sitting posture with their feet flat on the ground and knees roughly at the same level as their hips. This design helps distribute body weight and reduce pressure on the lower back.

Ergonomic office chairs, on the other hand, have a greater seat depth, reaching up to 620-700mm (or 62-70 cm). These chairs are designed with a greater emphasis on ergonomic principles, adjusting various parts of the chair, such as depth, backrest angle, and armrest height, to accommodate the physical characteristics and sitting habits of different users. A larger depth design can better wrap around the user's buttocks and thighs, providing more comprehensive support, helping to maintain the natural curve of the spine, and reducing fatigue and discomfort from prolonged sitting.

When choosing an office chair, in addition to considering the depth parameter, it is also necessary to take into account factors such as personal height, body type, and work habits. For example, taller individuals may need chairs with greater depth to ensure adequate leg support, while those who need to work at a desk for extended periods may prefer chairs with adjustable depth functions to accommodate different work needs.
