Office Chair Base Wobbling
Office chair base wobbling can be caused by various factors. Here are the common causes and corresponding solutions:

Gaps at the screw connections of accessories Office chairs are assembled from multiple accessories. To ensure the flexibility of functions such as height adjustment and reclining, a certain gap is reserved at the screw connections. This is a slight wobble caused by normal design and usually does not require treatment. If the wobbling amplitude is too large, check whether the gap has widened due to long-term use. If necessary, contact after-sales service for reinforcement.
Equipped with a rocking function Some office chairs are designed with a rocking function (a slight rocking function) for relaxation after sitting for a long time. Such chairs may produce a slight wobbling sensation due to functional characteristics when the universal wheels rotate, which is a normal phenomenon. If this function is not required, the rocking mode can be turned off (if there is a relevant switch).
Loose screws After long-term use, the screws on the backrest, base, and other parts may become loose due to vibration. Focus on checking the screws at the connection between the backrest and the seat, and between the base and the gas cylinder. Use tools to tighten them one by one. If the screws are stripped or damaged, they need to be replaced with new ones.
Base installation problems If the seat tilts forward or wobbles abnormally, it may be due to incorrect base installation direction. When installed correctly, the operating lever for adjusting the height should be located on the right side of the chair. If it is on the left side, it means the base is installed backwards and needs to be removed and adjusted in direction.
Five-star base and caster problems Check whether the five-star base (five legs) of the chair is intact, with no cracks or deformation. Ensure that the five casters are evenly in contact with the ground and clean up any entangled hair, threads, and other debris. If a caster is damaged or suspended, it will cause the chair to be unstable. The caster needs to be replaced or the ground flatness adjusted.
Gas cylinder problems The gas cylinder is the core component connecting the seat and the base. If the chair sinks or wobbles left and right, it may be due to wear or loose connection of the gas cylinder. Observe whether there is looseness at the interfaces between the two ends of the gas cylinder and the seat and the five-star base. Try to press the chair vertically. If there is a sense of looseness or abnormal noise, it indicates internal wear of the gas cylinder, and after-sales service should be contacted for replacement.
Material fatigue or improper assembly Plastic components may become brittle and break due to long-term exposure to temperature and humidity. Damage to the seal ring of the gas cylinder can also cause wobbling. In addition, if the chair is a cheap product or the bolts are not evenly tightened during assembly, it may lead to imbalance in multiple places. In such cases, it is recommended to contact professional personnel for maintenance or replacement of components.
Environmental factors An uneven or damp ground will prevent the base from fully fitting the ground, exacerbating the wobbling sensation. Move the chair to a flat and dry ground for use, which can alleviate this problem.
If none of the above methods can solve the problem, it is recommended to contact after-sales service or professional maintenance personnel for further inspection.
