Office Chair Base Usage

Admin October 16, 2026

The use of office chair bases requires reasonable operation and maintenance according to different types

The five-claw base is the most common support structure for office chairs, with its core function being to disperse pressure through the five-point support principle. When using it, pay attention to the following points:

  1. Material Selection: Nylon bases are lightweight and tough, suitable for daily office scenarios, but should avoid overloading (the load-bearing limit is usually 100-120kg). Aluminum alloy bases have strong load-bearing capacity (up to 150kg or more), suitable for users with larger body weights or those requiring high stability, but are more expensive.
  2. Stability Maintenance: Regular products need to pass the five-claw static pressure testing machine to ensure no breakage or deformation under simulated prolonged sitting conditions. During use, avoid excessive eccentric force on the side to prevent the center of gravity from shifting and causing tipping.
  3. Cleaning and Inspection: Regularly clean the dust at the contact points between the base and the ground to prevent wear on the support points. Check for cracks in nylon bases and deformation in aluminum alloy bases, and replace damaged parts promptly.

The circular knob on the base is a key component for adjusting the seat height, and the following specifications should be followed during operation:

  1. Adjustment Method: Rotate clockwise to raise the seat and counterclockwise to lower it. When adjusting, keep your body seated upright to avoid unilateral force causing the knob to jam.
  2. Locking Function: Some knobs are equipped with locking devices. After adjustment, ensure locking to prevent seat wobbling. If locking failure is detected, stop using immediately and replace the knob.
  3. Maintenance: Avoid stacking debris around the knob to prevent foreign objects from getting stuck. Clean the knob gaps and inject a small amount of lubricant (such as silicone grease) every 3-6 months to keep rotation smooth.

The stainless steel adjustable base is suitable for height adjustment in multiple scenarios, and the following should be noted during use:

  1. Installation Steps: First, place the base steadily on the ground, ensuring that the five-claw support points are fully in contact with the ground. Place the chair or table on the base, press lightly to confirm stability, and then adjust the height.
  2. Adjustment Operation: When rotating the adjustment lever, apply force evenly to avoid sudden force causing the lever to bend. The height adjustment range is usually 10-15cm, and it should be adjusted according to the table height so that the thighs are parallel to the ground.
  3. Material Maintenance: Although stainless steel bases are corrosion-resistant, they should still avoid long-term contact with acidic liquids (such as cleaning agents). If stains appear on the surface, wipe with a soft cloth dampened with a neutral cleaning agent, and do not use steel wool to scrub.

By reasonably selecting the base type, following standard operations, and conducting regular maintenance, the safety and lifespan of office chairs can be significantly improved.
