Office Chair Base Supply

Admin October 09, 2026

The office chair base is the core component of an office chair, primarily providing functions such as fixed connection, horizontal rotation, backrest tilt adjustment, and load-bearing connection.

1. Fixed and Connection Function
As the structural hub of an office chair, the base integrates components such as the seat cushion, backrest, and gas lift through mechanical connections to form a unified whole. Its upper end is rigidly connected to the seat frame, while its lower end is connected to the top of the gas lift's piston rod through a central hole or sleeve, creating a stable mechanical force transmission path. This design ensures that all seat components work together in harmony while distributing the impact of the user's weight across multiple components, thereby extending the overall lifespan.

2. Horizontal Rotation Implementation
The base incorporates a built-in rotating bearing or slip ring structure, enabling the seat (including the cushion and backrest) to rotate 360ยฐ horizontally around the axis of the gas lift. This function significantly enhances flexibility in office settings: users can turn around to retrieve items, communicate with colleagues behind or to the side, or slightly adjust their angle towards the computer without moving their bodies. Some high-end bases feature silent bearings, which offer low friction resistance and noise-free rotation, further optimizing the user experience.

3. Backrest Tilt Adjustment Mechanism
The base achieves backrest tilt functionality through integrated mechanical structures such as springs, dampers, or fiberglass springs, and is equipped with control levers or knobs for operation:

  • Tilt Types:
    • Back Tilt: Only the backrest tilts backward while the seat cushion remains horizontal, suitable for short breaks;
    • Seat Tilt: Only the seat cushion tilts backward while the backrest angle remains unchanged, providing weaker lumbar support;
    • Synchronous Tilt: The backrest and seat cushion move in proportion (typically 2:1 to 3:1). When reclining, the angle between the knees and hips remains natural, with feet always touching the ground and continuous lumbar support, adhering to ergonomic principles.
  • Additional Functions:
    • Tilt Resistance Adjustment: The spring tension can be changed via a knob or lever to accommodate users of different weights;
    • Tilt Lock: Supports multi-position or infinite-angle locking to meet the needs of scenarios such as reading or meetings.

4. Load-Bearing and Connection Enhancement
The base is manufactured from high-strength metals (such as cold-rolled steel) or engineering plastics. Its upper end supports the seat frame and the user's weight (typically designed to bear โ‰ฅ120kg), while its lower end works with the gas lift to enable seat height adjustment. Some bases incorporate explosion-proof steel plates to prevent injury to the user in the event of gas lift failure, enhancing safety.

5. Special Types of Bases

  • Wire-Controlled Base: Integrates all adjustment functions (height adjustment, backrest tilt, locking) into a handle on the side of the seat, eliminating the need for bending over;
  • Gravity-Sensing Base: Features built-in smart sensors that automatically adjust the backrest tilt resistance based on the user's weight, providing "stepless adaptive" support.
