Office Chair Base Plate
The office chair base plate is a steel or plastic plate located at the top of the gas lift rod, primarily serving to connect the seat cushion with the lifting mechanism. The following provides an introduction from three aspects: material, functional design, and high-end features.

In terms of material, office chair base plates mainly come in two types: steel and plastic. A steel base plate offers higher stability, can withstand greater pressure and weight, and is less prone to deformation, making it suitable for long-term use or scenarios where chair stability is highly required, such as for people who work long hours in an office. On the other hand, low-end office chairs may use plastic base plates. Although plastic base plates are less expensive, they are prone to deformation after long-term use, affecting the overall stability and service life of the chair.
Regarding functional design, some office chairs incorporate a seat recline adjustment gear set at the base plate. This design allows users to adjust the angle of the backrest according to their needs, meeting different sitting posture requirements. For example, when a user wants to relax and rest, they can adjust the backrest backward to a larger angle for a more comfortable experience; when they need to concentrate on work, they can straighten the backrest to maintain a good sitting posture.
In terms of high-end features, the chassis (including the base plate area) of some high-end office chairs features a synchronous recline function. When a user leans back, the backrest and seat cushion can intelligently move in tandem, automatically maintaining the fit of the lumbar support. This design can better conform to the human body's curves, providing more comprehensive support, reducing fatigue caused by prolonged sitting, and enhancing comfort and health during use. For example, some ergonomic office chairs adopt this synchronous recline function, automatically adjusting the angles of the backrest and seat cushion according to the user's body movements, allowing the user to maintain a comfortable sitting posture throughout use.
