Office Chair Base Manufacturing
The manufacturing of office chair bases involves multiple steps and different material processes, mainly including metal base manufacturing, other material base manufacturing, and related parts of seat frame manufacturing.
Metal Base Manufacturing: Taking the manufacturing of office seats in a Pakistani factory as an example, the master first cuts thick steel pipes into standard lengths and then presses them into curved shapes for base production. The steel pipes are installed onto the welding platform mold and welded using gas metal arc welding (GMAW). The welded workpieces are then assembled together. For the universal wheel brackets, they are welded onto the footrests with grooves. After that, footrests with significant surface rust are pickled. They are soaked in a pickling tank, then taken out and rinsed with clean water to remove the residual pickling solution. Next, they are wiped with a towel and placed in sawdust to remove moisture. Then, the outer surfaces of the footrests are ground at the weld positions and polished with a sanding belt to achieve a mirror-like sheen. Finally, they undergo galvanizing treatment. Common types of metal office chair bases on the market include electroplated steel and alloy electroplated ones. Other Material Base Manufacturing: In addition to metal materials, there are also office chair bases made of nylon and other materials. Related Parts of Seat Frame Manufacturing: When manufacturing the seat frames of some office chairs, workers use hydraulic-powered machines to bend size 14 steel pipes into shape to make the bottom cushion frames. They connect the ends and weld steel bars in the middle. S-shaped steel springs are hung from the front to the back of the seat frame, and crossbars are placed horizontally and clamped onto the springs to increase stability and support. Although this part is not exactly the same as base manufacturing, it, together with the base, forms the support structure of the office chair.
