Loosening of Office Chair Base

Admin October 17, 2026

If the base of your office chair is loose, you can first troubleshoot the cause and attempt to resolve it on your own. If the issue cannot be resolved and the chair is still under warranty, you can contact after-sales service.

  1. Loose mechanical connections: After prolonged use, the screws connecting the seat cushion to the tray and the tray to the five-star base may become loosened. In this case, use an appropriate screwdriver or wrench to tighten all visible connecting screws one by one to ensure that all components are firmly connected.
  2. Worn nylon slide rails/plastic clips: The nylon slide rails that control the tilt angle or the plastic clips used for fixation inside the tray may show signs of whitening, embrittlement, or wear after long-term friction, leading to increased gaps and wobbling. You can purchase corresponding replacement parts online or from the manufacturer to restore normal functionality.
  3. Aged interface components: Wear and loosening of the metal clip or inner plastic sleeve at the interface between the gas lift and the tray can make the connection unstable. Replace the corresponding worn parts to ensure a tight connection at the interface.
  4. Chair design factors: The chair is assembled from multiple components, and there are gaps at the screw connections between components. Additionally, it has functions such as height adjustment and reclining. To ensure flexibility, these gaps cannot be completely sealed, which may result in some wobbling. Chairs with a rocking function can rock slightly, and you may feel a slight wobble when sitting on them while the universal wheels are turning. This is normal and does not require special treatment.
  5. Improper assembly: For some inexpensive chairs or those with unclear assembly instructions, if users fail to ensure uniform tightening of bolts during self-assembly, the chair may become unbalanced in multiple places and wobble. You can re-inspect and uniformly tighten the bolts to ensure the chair is balanced.
  6. Environmental factors: If the office chair is placed on an uneven or damp surface, the chair base may not fully conform to the ground, exacerbating the wobbling sensation. Moreover, an uneven ground can cause excessive local stress and accelerate component damage. Place the chair on a flat and dry surface to improve the usage environment.

In addition, if the base is installed backward and the protruding round spring is not in front of the gas lift, issues such as the seat tilting forward may occur. Check whether the base is installed correctly. If the wobbling is significant and the above methods cannot resolve the issue, for AutoFull gaming chairs that are still under warranty, you can contact the official store's customer service for after-sales support.
