The Base of the Office Chair is Loose
The loose base of an office chair can be resolved through regular inspection and maintenance, replacing the base, or disassembling and reassembling the base.

Regular Inspection and Maintenance: The looseness of an office chair base may result from long-term weight-bearing and frequent rotation, causing slight deformation of metal connections, hidden loosening of screws, and wear of nylon slide rails, which is a natural 'fatigue period' for mechanical components. Common areas of wobbling and looseness are concentrated around the five-star foot and its connecting screws. When the screws at the connections loosen or the bottom plastic sleeves wear out, it can cause overall wobbling. Therefore, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the chair at least once a month, using tools of the appropriate size to check each connecting screw one by one. Tighten any loose screws promptly to effectively prevent the looseness issue from worsening.
Replacing the Base: If the base shows signs of severe damage, such as whitening and embrittlement of plastic clips or misalignment of the wheel axle, it indicates that the base is severely damaged and should be replaced with a new one. The new base is compatible with most domestic pneumatic rod diameters (commonly 38mm/40mm) and is relatively simple to install, requiring only an Allen wrench to tighten four screws for replacement.
Disassembling and Reassembling the Base: If the base is loose but not severely damaged, you can try disassembling it and then reinstalling it. The specific steps are as follows: First, locate the screws, nuts, or clips on the base. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws counterclockwise until they can be completely removed or are sufficiently loose. If there are nuts on the base, use a wrench to loosen and remove them counterclockwise. Next, use a rubber or plastic mallet to gently tap the edges of the base while attempting to rotate it slightly to help it detach from its fixed position. Once the base is loose, grasp it firmly and pull it upward with moderate force. After removing the base, check for any remaining screws, nuts, or clips on other parts of the chair and remove them completely. During the disassembly process, be patient and careful to avoid using excessive force that could damage the chair. If you are unsure how to disassemble it or are concerned about damaging the chair, it is advisable to seek help from a professional. When reassembling the chair, ensure that all screws, nuts, and clips are correctly installed and tightened securely to guarantee the stability and safety of the chair.
