Office Chair Base Installation

Admin October 14, 2026

The installation of an office chair base requires selecting the appropriate method based on its specific structure. Here are the common installation steps:

First Method: Direct Connection Between the Base and the Seat Cushion This method is suitable for office chairs where the base is directly fixed to the seat cushion. During installation, place the base steadily on the surface of the seat cushion. Ensure that the orientation of the base matches the design of the seat cushion, and align the four screw holes on the base with the pre-drilled holes on the seat cushion. After alignment, manually screw in the four special screws (such as B screws) 3-4 turns one by one. Avoid tightening them all at once to prevent hole misalignment. Once all screws are initially fixed, use a tool to tighten them one by one to ensure a secure connection between the base and the seat cushion.

Second Method: Connection Between the Base, Armrests, and Back Connecting Rods For some office chairs, the base needs to be assembled with the armrests and back connecting rods before installation. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Use four M8*78 screws and 8mm washers to fix the armrests to the designated positions on the back connecting rods. Ensure that the screws penetrate the holes in the armrests, washers, and back connecting rods, and tighten them until there is no looseness.
  2. Align the installation holes on the base with the bottom sockets of the assembled back connecting rods, and slowly insert the gas lift (if the chair is equipped with a height-adjustment function). Note that the piston end of the gas lift should face upwards, and the connection between the base and the back connecting rods should be fully flush.
  3. After checking that all components are aligned, use the provided screws to fix the base to the back connecting rods to complete the overall assembly.

Third Method: Hidden Installation of the Base Under the Seat Panel This design is commonly seen in minimalist office chairs, where the base is hidden beneath the seat panel. During installation, flip the seat panel so that its bottom faces upwards. Align the four screw holes on the base with those on the seat panel, and use four long screws (the length should be selected based on the thickness of the seat panel) to pass through the holes and secure the base. Keep the seat panel level while tightening the screws to avoid uneven force on the base due to tilting. After fixation, check that the base is stable and does not wobble.

Precautions:

  • Before installation, verify the specifications and quantity of screws to avoid using incorrect accessories that may lead to structural instability.
  • It is recommended to wear gloves during operation to prevent the screws from scratching your hands or damaging the chair's surface material.
  • If the base is connected to a gas lift, ensure that the gas lift is fully inserted into the base socket to prevent the height-adjustment function from failing.
  • After installation, gently shake the chair to test the firmness of the connections between all components to ensure safe use.
