Office Chair Base Installation
The installation steps for the base of an office chair are as follows:

I. Prepare Components
An office chair typically consists of chair legs, casters, a base, a seat, a gas lift, a backrest, armrests, a headrest, and other parts. Before installation, ensure that all relevant components are complete, especially key components such as the base, seat, gas lift, and matching screws. Missing components may lead to installation failure or structural instability.
II. Install Casters and Chair Legs
- Insert each caster into the mounting holes of the chair legs one by one, ensuring that each caster is fully engaged and free of looseness.
- Place the gas lift vertically into the central hole of the chair legs, ensuring a tight connection between the gas lift and the chair legs. The gas lift is the core component for adjusting the seat height, and it must be kept vertical during installation to avoid tilting, which could cause subsequent operational failures.
III. Secure the Base to the Seat
- Place the base on the bottom of the seat, align the screw holes, and initially secure them with matching screws. Note: The screws do not need to be fully tightened at this point to allow for subsequent position adjustments.
- Some installation methods recommend placing the base frame (base) first and using long, thin screws to initially connect other components (such as the backrest bracket). Once all components are aligned, tighten the screws uniformly. This step prevents misalignment of the overall structure due to local fixation.
IV. Overall Assembly and Adjustment
- Connect the backrest to the seat using screws or clips, ensuring a firm and wobble-free connection.
- Insert the assembled seat portion vertically into the top of the gas lift, ensuring that the base is fully in contact with the gas lift.
- Key Adjustment Steps:
- If using a step-by-step screw tightening method, after all screws are initially installed, gently pry the base frame (base) to ensure a tighter fit with the gas lift, then tighten the screws one by one.
- When using two coarse nuts to secure the base, first tighten one side (but do not fully lock it). After the screws on the other side are installed, tighten them uniformly to balance the force.
- Install anti-slip pads: Place four anti-slip pads at the bottom of the chair legs and check if the chair is stable. If the chair wobbles, adjust the position of the base or chair legs slightly to ensure even force distribution on all contact surfaces.
V. Final Inspection
- Test the gas lift function: Sit on the chair and adjust the height multiple times to confirm smooth and unobstructed lifting and lowering.
- Check all connections: Shake the backrest, armrests, and other components to ensure there is no looseness or abnormal noise.
- Confirm stability: Push the chair on a flat surface and observe whether the casters rotate flexibly and whether the chair moves in a straight line.
Tip: If you encounter misaligned screw holes or stuck components during installation, do not force them. Instead, check if the components are oriented correctly or realign them. Some office chair bases have complex designs, so it is recommended to refer to the product manual or contact after-sales service for targeted guidance.
