Office Chair Base Disassembly and Assembly

Admin October 10, 2026

The steps for disassembling and assembling the base of an office chair are as follows:

Disassembling the Base:

  1. Flip the Chair: Turn the office chair upside down so that the seat faces downward and is placed flat on the ground. Ensure there is sufficient operating space and avoid scratching the seat surface.
  2. Remove the Fixed Screws: Use a screwdriver or power tool to unscrew the fixed screws connecting the base to the seat cushion. Usually, the screws are located at the edge or center of the base, and the type of tool (such as a Phillips or flat-head screwdriver) needs to be adjusted according to the specific structure.
  3. Separate the Base: Hold the chair upside down with one hand and gently tap the edge of the base or specific snap-fit positions with a rubber mallet. If a rubber mallet is not available, wrap a towel around a metal hammer and tap to avoid directly damaging the base surface. After tapping several times, the base will gradually loosen and separate from the gas lift or chair legs.

Assembling the Base (estimated steps):

  1. Prepare Components: If you need to replace the gas lift or other components, prioritize choosing products with international safety certifications such as SGS and TUV to ensure safety during use.
  2. Align the Gas Lift with the Base: Insert the top end of the gas lift into the center hole of the base, being careful to avoid the movable button in the middle (to prevent damage to the internal structure of the gas lift).
  3. Secure the Base: Align the base with the seat cushion, reinstall the fixed screws, and tighten them. If the gas lift has a height adjustment function, test the lifting and lowering after installation to ensure smooth operation.
  4. Check Stability: After installation, place the chair upright and sit on it to test. Ensure that the base does not wobble, the gas lift raises and lowers normally, and all screws are tightened without looseness.

Precautions:

  • If the screws are rusty during disassembly, spray a small amount of lubricant to assist in unscrewing.
  • Control the force when tapping the base to avoid excessive force causing deformation of the gas lift or chair legs.
  • If any components are missing or damaged during installation, replace them promptly and do not force assembly.
  • The gas lift is a high-pressure component. Non-professionals should not disassemble it randomly to avoid safety hazards.

By following the above steps, you can complete the disassembly and assembly of the office chair base. If you encounter complex structures or special models, it is recommended to refer to the product manual or contact after-sales personnel for assistance.
