Office Chair Base Disassembly
The disassembly of an office chair base can be carried out according to the following steps. Ensure safety and use appropriate tools during the operation:

Step 1: Separate the Backrest The backrest of an office chair is usually connected to the base via snaps or screws. For snap-on structures, hold both sides of the backrest with your hands and pull it upwards perpendicular to the seat surface, using the elasticity of the snaps to separate them. If it is fixed with screws, use a screwdriver of the corresponding size (such as a Phillips or flat-head screwdriver) to rotate counterclockwise and remove the screws, then take off the backrest. Avoid excessive force in this step to prevent the snaps from breaking or the screws from stripping.
Step 2: Remove the Base Main Body The connection between the base and the gas lift is crucial for disassembly. First, raise the gas lift to its highest position to ensure it is fully extended. During operation, hold the edge of the seat firmly with one hand and press the lift adjustment lever of the gas lift (usually located under or on the side of the seat) with the other hand. At the same time, use the seat as a fulcrum and gently shake the base from side to side. The purpose of shaking is to loosen the engagement structure between the gas lift and the base. After about 5-10 times of continuous operation, the base will gradually separate from the gas lift. If the base is tightly engaged, you can appropriately increase the shaking amplitude, but avoid using excessive force to prevent damage to the gas lift.
Step 3: Disassemble the Gas Lift (Optional) If you need to further disassemble the gas lift (such as for replacement or repair), turn the chair legs upside down so that the gas lift points downwards. It is recommended to use a rubber mallet to gently tap the connection point between the gas lift and the chair legs, using the elasticity of the rubber to reduce the impact force and avoid damaging the surface of the chair legs or the gas lift. If you don't have a rubber mallet, you can place a piece of wood as a buffer and tap the wood gently with an ordinary hammer to complete the disassembly through indirect force application. Keep the tapping force even and try from different angles until the gas lift loosens and can be removed.
Precautions:
- It is recommended to wear gloves before disassembly to prevent metal parts from scratching your fingers;
- The gas lift may contain high-pressure gas inside. Non-professionals are not recommended to disassemble its internal structure by themselves;
- If you encounter stubborn snaps or screws during disassembly, you can spray a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) to help loosen them;
- After disassembly, store the parts according to their materials for easy subsequent assembly or recycling.
By following the above steps, you can systematically complete the disassembly of an office chair base. Adjust the details according to the actual chair type during operation to ensure safety and efficiency.
