Office Chair Base Disassembly

Admin October 10, 2026

The disassembly of an office chair base can be carried out according to the following steps:

Prepare Tools

Prepare a hammer, preferably a rubber hammer. If a rubber hammer is not available, an ordinary hammer can be used as an alternative. A rubber hammer can reduce damage to the paint surface of the office chair during hammering. If an ordinary hammer is used, prepare a towel as an auxiliary tool to prevent the paint surface from being scratched.

Separate the Seat Cushion from the Base

Turn the office chair upside down so that its bottom faces upwards and place it on a flat surface. Carefully look for the screws that fix the bottom tray and use an appropriate screwdriver to unscrew them one by one. After all the screws are removed, gently shake the seat cushion to separate it from the base. This step is the foundation for disassembling the base. Only by separating the seat cushion from the base can subsequent operations on the base be carried out more conveniently. When unscrewing the screws, pay attention to keeping them safe to avoid loss, as they will be needed for subsequent installation.

Hammer to Separate the Base

Hold the office chair upside down with one hand so that the base is in a position convenient for hammering. Use a rubber hammer to strike the part where the base is connected to the chair legs. This part is usually the key position for fixing the base to the chair legs, and hammering can loosen the connection. If an ordinary hammer is used, place a towel between the hammer head and the base before hammering to protect the paint surface of the base. Pay attention to using an appropriate amount of force when hammering to avoid damaging the base or deforming the chair legs due to excessive force. Generally, after a few strikes, the connection between the base and the chair legs will gradually loosen. Continue striking until the base is completely separated. During the hammering process, constantly observe the loosening situation of the base and adjust the force and position of the hammering according to the actual situation.

When disassembling the base of an office chair, ensure that the operating environment is safe to avoid personal injury caused by the chair tipping over during the disassembly process. At the same time, after disassembly, keep all the components properly for subsequent installation or maintenance.
