Office Chair Base Assembly and Disassembly
Admin October 11, 2026
The assembly and disassembly of the office chair base must be carried out strictly in accordance with the specifications to avoid damage to components or personal injury due to incorrect operations.

Assembly Steps
- Assemble the Casters and Chair Legs: Align the casters with the mounting holes on the chair legs and press them vertically until they are fully embedded, ensuring that each caster is securely installed. After that, insert the gas lift vertically into the center hole of the chair legs, keeping the rod perpendicular to the chair legs to avoid instability during subsequent assembly.
- Secure the Base Plate to the Seat: Place the base plate on the bottom of the seat, align the screw holes, and tighten the fixing screws with a screwdriver. Make sure the screws are fully screwed in to prevent the base plate from loosening.
- Connect the Backrest to the Base: Fix the backrest to the seat using the preset clips or screws, ensuring there are no gaps at the connection points. Finally, insert the assembled seat vertically into the top of the gas lift. A clicking sound or increased resistance indicates that it is properly installed.
Disassembly Steps
- Detach the Backrest: If the backrest is fixed with screws, use a screwdriver to rotate it counterclockwise to remove it; if it is designed with clips, hold both sides of the backrest and lift it upwards until you hear a separation sound, then remove it.
- Remove the Base:
- Raise the gas lift to its highest position. Hold the seat with one hand and press the height adjustment lever while shaking the base with the other hand to loosen it using the lever principle.
- If the base is fixed to the gas lift with screws (common on the edges of metal bases), use a screwdriver to rotate it counterclockwise to remove the screws; if it is a plastic clip (usually at the bottom of the gas lift), press both sides of the clip simultaneously with your fingers and lift the base upwards.
- If the clips are difficult to separate: Apply a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) to the joint, let it sit for 10 minutes, and then try again; or gently tap the edge of the base with a rubber mallet to loosen it through vibration.
- Remove the Gas Lift: Turn the chair legs upside down and tap the bottom of the gas lift with a rubber mallet (use a wooden board as a cushion if a rubber mallet is not available) to avoid deforming the chair legs by direct tapping.
Safety Warning: The gas lift is filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas. It is strictly prohibited to disassemble the gas lift itself, as it may cause an explosion risk. If you need to replace the gas lift or handle internal faults, be sure to contact a professional maintenance technician for operation.
