Office Chair Base Assembly

Admin October 09, 2026

The steps for assembling the base of an office chair are as follows:

Step 1: Install the Chair Wheels and Gas Lift
First, assemble the chair wheels with the five-star base. Insert each wheel into the mounting holes of the five-star base, ensuring that each wheel is fully embedded and secure. After installing the chair wheels, flip the five-star base to its normal position (with the wheels facing down). Then, align the thicker end of the gas lift with the center hole of the five-star base, place it vertically downward, and press gently to ensure a tight connection between the gas lift and the five-star base. The gas lift is the core component for the height adjustment function of the office chair. Pay attention to its orientation during installation; the thicker end must match the center hole of the five-star base to avoid height adjustment failures during subsequent use.

Step 2: Secure the Base to the Seat Cushion
Place the base on the bottom of the seat cushion, paying special attention to the orientation of the base. The base is usually designed with clear installation markings (such as arrows or text prompts) that need to be aligned with the corresponding positions on the seat cushion. After alignment, locate the four screw holes on the base and the seat cushion, and lightly tighten the four screws 3-4 turns each. The purpose of this step is to initially fix the position of the base to prevent it from shifting during subsequent operations. After initial fixation, tighten the screws one by one to ensure a firm connection between the base and the seat cushion. When tightening the screws, maintain an even force to avoid stripping the screws or deforming the surface of the seat cushion due to excessive force.

Step 3: Connect the Seat Cushion to the Gas Lift
Align the assembled seat cushion-base assembly with the top of the gas lift and insert it vertically downward into the base hole. Keep the seat cushion level during insertion to avoid damaging the gas lift or the base hole due to tilting. After inserting it fully, press gently on the seat cushion to test its stability, ensuring that the seat cushion is tightly connected to the gas lift and does not wobble. If the seat cushion cannot be fully inserted or there is a gap, check whether the base hole is aligned with the gas lift or readjust the installation direction of the base.

Precautions:

  1. Avoid using excessive force during the installation process, especially when connecting the gas lift to the five-star base and the seat cushion to the base. Excessive force may damage the components.
  2. All screws should be tightened until they cannot be turned by hand, but avoid over-tightening with power tools to prevent the screws from breaking.
  3. After installation, test whether the height adjustment and rotation functions of the office chair are normal, and ensure that the chair wheels roll smoothly and without abnormal noise.
