Office Chair Base
The bottom structure of an office chair consists of a base plate, gas lift, five-star base, and casters, with the functions and purchasing points of each component as follows:

Base Plate: Core Function and Intelligent Adjustment Hub The base plate is a key component connecting the seat, gas lift, and five-star base, responsible for functions such as seat height adjustment, backrest recline, recline angle locking, and recline tension adjustment. The base plate of a regular office chair has basic functions, while that of an ergonomic chair is more refined and intelligent. High-end models even feature synchronous recline functions, which can dynamically adjust the support angle according to the user's sitting posture, reducing fatigue from prolonged sitting. When purchasing, attention should be paid to the richness of adjustment functions and operational convenience, such as whether single-handed adjustment is supported and whether the recline angle range is reasonable.
Gas Lift: Lifting Power and Safety Guarantee The gas lift achieves seat lifting through high-pressure nitrogen and is the "power heart" of the office chair. Its safety is crucial and it needs to pass international safety certifications such as SGS and BIFMA, and undergo at least 120,000 anti-explosion fatigue tests. Poor-quality gas lifts may pose an explosion risk due to insufficient nitrogen purity or thin cylinder walls. When purchasing, it is necessary to confirm the certification marks and avoid choosing unbranded or low-priced products. In addition, the smoothness of the gas lift's lifting also affects the user experience, with high-quality products usually adopting more precise sealing structures.
Five-Star Base: Load-Bearing Foundation and Material Selection The five-star base is the "safety foundation" of the office chair, and its material directly affects the load-bearing capacity and stability. Common materials include nylon, steel, and aluminum alloy:
- Nylon Base: Lightweight, low noise, and corrosion-resistant, but with relatively weak load-bearing capacity, suitable for users with lighter weight or simple usage scenarios;
- Steel Base: Strong load-bearing capacity and durable, but be wary of rust caused by the่ฑ่ฝ (peeling off) of poor-quality electroplated layers. When purchasing, check the surface treatment process;
- Aluminum Alloy Base: Optimal overall performance, combining lightweight and high strength, but with a higher price, suitable for users with sufficient budget or high stability requirements. The material priority is generally aluminum alloy > steel > nylon, with price ranges from 31.0 - 50.0 yuan for nylon bases to 147.25 yuan for aluminum alloy bases.
Casters: Smooth Movement and Floor Protection The material of the casters affects the smoothness of movement, noise level, and floor protection ability. Nylon casters offer good cost-effectiveness, are wear-resistant, and have strong load-bearing capacity, but may not be smooth enough on hard floors; PU casters have better noise reduction effects and are more floor-friendly, but with a slightly higher price. When purchasing, choose according to the usage scenario, such as recommending PU casters for wooden floors and no special requirements for carpets.
