Office Chair Backrest - Wood

Admin October 19, 2026

When the backrest of an office chair is made of wood, its price, material selection, manufacturing process, and installation points are as follows:

Price Range

The prices of solid-wood backrest office chairs vary significantly depending on the style, manufacturer, and material, commonly ranging from 54.96 yuan to 860.6 yuan. For example, some basic solid-wood backrest chairs are priced around 54.96 yuan, while high-end designs or products made of imported materials may exceed 800 yuan. Price fluctuations are mainly influenced by the type of wood, the complexity of the craftsmanship, and brand value.

Material Selection

The selection of materials for wooden chair backrests should primarily focus on hardwoods. It is recommended to use well-seasoned old materials such as jujube wood, elm wood, and oak wood. These types of wood offer the following advantages:

  • High Stability: Well-seasoned old materials have low moisture content, making them less prone to cracking or warping over years of use;
  • Aesthetic Grain: Hardwoods have clear and straight grain patterns, enhancing the visual appeal of the backrest;
  • High Durability: Hardwoods have high density and strong wear resistance, making them suitable for long-term weight-bearing.

Manufacturing Process

The production of solid-wood backrests requires adherence to a strict craftsmanship process, with core steps including:

  1. Cutting: Cut the wood according to the design dimensions. The seat is typically one foot five inches long, one foot four inches wide, and one inch two thick, while the legs are two feet high and one inch and a half square;
  2. Planing: Plane the seat surface evenly and make the leg materials smooth on all sides, rounding the edges to avoid splintering;
  3. Mortise-and-Tenon Joints: Create four one-inch-two-deep mortises under the seat, ensuring the tenons on the legs match precisely;
  4. Assembly: Apply wood glue to the four legs before installation and add two cross-braces between the legs to enhance stability;
  5. Backrest Installation: Insert the tenons of the upright posts into the mortises along the back of the seat, secure the cross-braces layer by layer, and design the backrest with a slight backward curve to fit the human body's contour.

Installation Points

When installing the wooden chair backrest, pay attention to the following details:

  • Small Wooden Dowel Fixation: Insert the small wooden dowels from the accessory pack into the holes in the cross-braces, tap them vertically onto the ground, and repeat the operation to ensure stability;
  • Armrest Orientation: The large hole on the armrest should face outward, with the side having three holes being the installation position for the backrest. The large hole on the cross-brace should be at the bottom, and the small hole at the top;
  • Screw Fixation: Use medium-sized screws to tighten the area below the armrest and backrest (leave half untightened), and insert long screws from the bottom up through the cross-brace, aligning them with the eyelets on the seat and tightening them.

By selecting materials reasonably, employing fine craftsmanship, and following standardized installation procedures, solid-wood backrest office chairs can offer both durability and comfort, meeting long-term usage needs.
