Office Chair Backrest Repair
The repair of an office chair backrest requires selecting the appropriate method based on the specific type of fault. Here are some common faults and repair steps:

1. Backrest cushion detachment due to cushion nut falling off
If the backrest cushion detaches due to the nut on the cushion falling off, first use a hole opener to enlarge the original hole and clean up the remaining nut debris. Then, select a No. 6 threaded rod and screw it into the hole. Insert a zip tie with four teeth into the tooth groove of the threaded rod and adjust the position of the zip tie to regulate the fixed height of the nut. When the glue is almost dry, unscrew the threaded rod to fix the nut. Note that you should repeatedly turn the threaded rod with a screwdriver before the glue is completely dry to prevent it from sticking to the glue and making it impossible to disassemble later. Finally, clean up the glue overflow around the hole to ensure a flat surface.
2. Breakage at the connection between the base and the backrest
For a break at the connection between a plastic base and the backrest, first use an electric drill to evenly drill a row of small holes (with a diameter of about 2-3 millimeters) on the fracture surface. Use correction fluid to cover the entire fracture surface as a temporary mark. After combining the two plastic parts, replicate the hole positions onto the other fracture surface. When making your own adhesive, melt chopped foam board in gasoline, add baking soda to increase the viscosity, and then add spray paint to match the color with the original material. Dip a rivet into the adhesive and insert it into the small holes. Coat both fracture surfaces with the adhesive and fix them according to the hole positions. During the reinforcement stage, take out the graphite rod inside the battery and grind it into fine powder. Mix it with baking soda in a 1:1 ratio. Use tape to seal the three sides of the breakage location. Start filling the powder into the gap from the top and drip 502 glue into it. Repeat this operation for the other sides. Finally, sand it smooth with fine sandpaper and spray paint of the same color as the original chair.
3. Backrest cannot stand upright due to hydraulic system failure
If the hydraulic mechanism falls off directly and the toggle is normal, lay the chair on its side to check the transmission components. If the fixing screw at the fulcrum is a non-standard 10*1 screw, it can be directly replaced with a standard No. 10 screw (30 millimeters in length). When installing, use a tap to tap the threads or directly use a wrench to insert the screw to ensure it matches the original hole position. If forcing it in results in an unqualified fit between the nut and the bolt, screw a nut onto the bolt as a temporary fix and adjust the screw position by adding washers to avoid interfering with the range of motion of the hydraulic rod.
4. Office chair backrest does not rebound
If the backrest does not rebound, first check whether the adjusting lever is stuck or damaged, and also check whether there are loose or fallen nuts below the backrest. If the nut problem causes the spring to fail, you can refer to the first method to refix the nut. If the adjusting lever is damaged, replace it with a part of the same model.
