Office Chair Backrest Repair
Repairing the backrest of an office chair requires targeted methods based on different types of damage. Here are the specific repair steps:

If the backrest cushion comes off, it is usually due to the nut on the seat cushion falling off. In this case, first use a hole opener to enlarge the hole, clean the original nut, and then find a No. 6 threaded rod to screw in. Next, use a four-toothed zip tie to fit into the teeth, adjust the nut position, and unscrew the threaded rod to fix the nut when the glue is almost dry. Before the glue dries, use a screwdriver to twist it back and forth to prevent the threaded rod from getting stuck, and finally clean the surrounding area. This method solves the problem of the cushion coming off by re-fixing the nut. The operation is relatively simple, but attention should be paid to the details of hole opening and fixing to ensure that the nut is firmly fixed.
If the connection between the base and the backrest is broken, the repair process is more complex. First, use an electric drill to make a row of small holes on the broken surface, coat the broken surface with correction fluid, and then copy the hole positions to the other broken surface after combining the plastic parts. Then, make your own adhesive by putting shredded foam board into gasoline to melt it, adding baking soda to increase the viscosity, and then adding spray paint for color matching. Dip rivets into the adhesive and insert them into the small holes, and coat the broken surface with adhesive to fix it. After that, grind the graphite rod inside the battery into powder, add baking soda and stir, use tape to stick three sides of the broken position, fill the powder into the gap and drop 502 glue for reinforcement, and finally sand it smooth and spray paint. This method repairs the broken connection through multiple steps of bonding and reinforcement, but the operation is more difficult and requires certain handmade skills and patience.
If the backrest cannot stand upright and there is a problem with the hydraulic system, lay the chair on its side and check the transmission components. If the chair's toggle is normal but the hydraulic mechanism falls off directly, the fixing screw of the fulcrum is a non-standard 10*1 screw, which can be replaced with a standard No. 10 screw. Use a tap to tap the thread or directly use a wrench to fit the screw and install it in the original position (length 30 mm). Since forcing the screw in may result in unqualified cooperation between the screw, nut, and bolt, a nut can be screwed onto the bolt. When installing the screw, it should not hinder the movement range of the hydraulic rod, which can be solved by adding washers. This method solves the problem of the hydraulic system by replacing the screw and adjusting the cooperation, allowing the backrest to stand upright.
If the backrest does not rebound, check the adjusting lever. There is a nut below it, and you can perform relevant repairs on it, such as tightening or replacing the nut, to restore the rebound function of the backrest.
