Office Chair Backrest Fixation

Admin October 09, 2026

The methods for fixing the backrest of an office chair vary depending on the type of chair and the specific issue. Here are some common fixation methods:

Reclining Lock Fixation

  • Knob-type: There is usually a circular knob under the chair. By rotating it clockwise, you can increase the resistance of the backrest until it is locked. This design is common in office chairs with adjustable reclining angles. By rotating the knob, you can precisely control the resistance of the backrest. When the resistance increases to a certain level, the backrest will be fixed in its current position and will not be able to recline further.
  • Lever-type: There is a lever on the side or under the chair. By moving the lever to a specific position, such as the "lock" mark, you can fix the backrest. The lever-type design is relatively simple to operate. You just need to find the lever and move it to the corresponding position to fix the backrest, which is convenient and quick.
  • Button-type: Some computer chairs have a dedicated button. Pressing the button can lock the reclining angle of the backrest. This design is usually relatively hidden, and the button may be located in an inconspicuous place such as under or on the side of the backrest. After pressing the button, the reclining angle of the backrest will be fixed, and pressing it again will unlock it.

Backrest Wobble Fixation

  • Check the screws: Examine the condition of the screws connecting the backrest and the seat. If the screws are loose, use an appropriate screwdriver to tighten them. If the screws are damaged, such as having stripped threads, they must be replaced with new ones to ensure a stable connection. Screws are important components that connect the backrest and the seat, and their looseness or damage can directly cause the backrest to wobble.
  • Add gaskets: Add rubber gaskets or similar items at the connection between the backrest and the seat. These gaskets can increase the friction at the connection, thereby reducing the possibility of looseness and making the backrest more stable.
  • Use glue: Select a strong adhesive and apply it to the connection gap between the backrest and the seat. After the glue dries, it will form a certain adhesion, which helps to fix the backrest and prevent it from wobbling further. However, after fixing with glue, it may be relatively difficult to disassemble the backrest if needed later.
  • Model-specific fixation: For example, for the Baibaidiao P5 dual-backrest model, place the backrest on the seat cushion and align it with the holes at the bottom of the seat cushion. Fix it with corresponding screws and gaskets, such as using 3 C-type screws and gaskets to fix the backrest. Some models can also lock the backrest with a lumbar support knob.
