Office Chair Backrest Classification
The classification of office chair backrests can be carried out from two main dimensions: height and material, as follows:

In terms of backrest height, office chairs can be divided into high-back chairs, medium-back chairs, and low-back chairs. High-back chairs have backrests that extend up to the head and neck, providing comprehensive support for the entire back and neck. They are suitable for executive offices or individuals who need to work at a desk for long periods, effectively alleviating fatigue caused by prolonged sitting. Medium-back chairs typically have backrests that reach shoulder level, balancing support and space. They are the most common type in regular employee workstations, meeting daily office needs without restricting movement due to an overly high backrest. Low-back chairs have backrests that only reach the waist, featuring a simple and lightweight design. They are often used in conference rooms, training rooms, or temporary workstations, with the advantage of being easy to move and store, suitable for scenarios requiring frequent seat layout adjustments.
In terms of backrest material, office chairs can be divided into mesh backrests, leather backrests, and fabric backrests. Mesh backrests are currently the mainstream choice for office chairs, available in two types: highly elastic and breathable mesh, and thick and wear-resistant mesh. High-quality mesh has strong toughness and sufficient elasticity, conforming to the curve of the lower back and providing precise lumbar support to relieve lower back pain. Additionally, the fully perforated mesh design offers excellent breathability, ensuring comfort in all seasons, especially suitable for long working hours. Leather backrests are known for their premium texture, with a simple and elegant appearance, commonly found in executive chairs or reception chairs. High-quality PU leather or durable genuine leather backrests are soft and skin-friendly, with stable support. However, they have poor breathability, which can cause a stuffy feeling during prolonged sitting in summer, and require regular maintenance to maintain surface luster and extend service life. Fabric backrests offer a wide range of color and pattern options, adding a warm touch to the office environment and providing a comfortable sitting experience. However, fabric materials tend to attract dust and require regular cleaning with a vacuum cleaner to maintain surface cleanliness.
Different classifications of office chair backrests have differences in function, applicable scenarios, and maintenance requirements. Users can choose the most suitable type based on their actual needs.
