Office Chair Automatic Recline
The automatic recline function of office chairs is usually related to the chair's locking mechanism, ergonomic design, or special components. Some issues can be resolved by adjusting the locking device, while high-end models enhance the recline experience through structural optimization.

Some office chairs may fail to recline due to accidental triggering of the locking function. For example, certain chairs are equipped with a recline locking button. When the button is in the locked position, the backrest cannot recline. In this case, check the locking device at the bottom or side of the chair, pull the locking button out or switch it to the unlocked position, and then try to recline the backrest to restore functionality. This design is common in basic office chairs and aims to prevent users from accidentally reclining or to fix the backrest angle.
High-end ergonomic chairs have been specifically optimized for the recline function. Taking the Yongsi Yongwei ergonomic chair as an example, its bottom is equipped with an airbag braking system that uses air pressure buffering to offset the chair's sliding caused by the reaction force during recline, enhancing stability. The headrest features an adjustable pull-strip design, allowing users to significantly adjust the headrest height according to their height to avoid neck suspension during recline. The lumbar support part adopts a multi-layer partitioned airbag structure that can conform to the lumbar curve through air pressure changes, providing dynamic support whether sitting upright for work or reclining for rest. Additionally, this model supports matching with an electric lifting footrest, and the footrest height can be adjusted synchronously with changes in the recline angle to keep the legs in a naturally relaxed state.
Ergonomic chairs in the thousand-yuan price range also have differentiated designs for the recline experience. For example, the Heibai Diao P2Ultra has a heel lift of about a dozen centimeters when reclining. This design balances the center-of-gravity shift during recline by raising the front end of the seat, reducing leg compression. At the same time, its lumbar support provides targeted support that changes with the angle during recline to avoid lumbar suspension. The Jingdong Jingzao Z9Ultra second generation optimizes the backrest tilt adjustment range (usually 120ยฐ-150ยฐ) and uses elastic mesh fabric to make the recline process smoother. The front end of the seat adopts a waterfall design to reduce compression on the front of the thighs during recline.
If the recline function of an office chair is abnormal, first check whether the locking device is unlocked. If the chair supports multi-angle adjustment, confirm whether the current angle is within the reclineable range. For high-end models, pay attention to whether components such as airbags and footrests are properly installed or inflated. Some functions need to be activated through the accompanying remote control or the knob on the side of the chair.
