Office Chair Assembly

Admin October 09, 2026

The assembly of an office chair generally follows the steps below, with attention to matching components and installation order:

I. Component Preparation and Inspection Before assembly, ensure all parts are complete, including chair legs, casters, gas lift, base, seat, backrest, armrests, headrest, and matching screws (e.g., M625mm, M630mm, etc.). Check each component for damage or missing parts to avoid interruptions during assembly.

II. Install the Main Structure from Bottom to Top

  1. Assemble Chair Legs and Casters Insert each caster into the mounting holes of the chair legs, ensuring the clips or threads are fully secured. Some designs require installing all five wheels first, then inserting the gas lift vertically into the center hole of the chair legs, keeping it upright to prevent tilting.
  2. Connect Seat to Base Align the base with the bottom of the seat and secure it with four long screws (e.g., M6*30mm). The base usually includes adjustment mechanisms (e.g., height adjustment, recline function), so ensure the installation direction is correct.
  3. Attach Backrest to Seat Align the connection points of the backrest and seat, then secure them with corner brackets or screws. For example, insert screws through the corner brackets connecting the back and seat, or directly tighten the screws at the junction of the backrest and seat to complete the upper body assembly.
  4. Connect Gas Lift to Seat Insert the assembled seat (including the base) vertically into the top of the gas lift, ensuring sufficient insertion depth and no wobbling. Some designs require installing the gas lift to the chair legs first, then connecting the seat, so adjust the order according to the instructions.

III. Install Armrests and Headrest

  1. Secure Armrests Choose screw sizes based on the armrest type:
  • Backrest to armrest connection: Use four M6*25mm screws;
  • Seat to armrest connection: Use four M6*30mm screws;
  • Armrest bracket to armrest connection: Use two M8*25mm screws. After installation, cover with decorative caps to hide the screw holes.
  1. Install Headrest Insert the headrest into the reserved hole at the top of the backrest, or secure it with two M6*25mm screws above the backrest, adjusting to a comfortable height.

IV. Final Inspection and Adjustment

  1. Check that all screws are tightened to prevent rattling or safety hazards.
  2. Test the gas lift height adjustment, backrest recline lock, and armrest adjustment (if applicable) for proper function.
  3. Slide the chair to confirm the casters rotate smoothly without jamming or tilting.

Precautions:

  • Two people are recommended for assembly to prevent the gas lift or seat from tipping over.
  • Screw sizes must match exactly; using incorrect screws may damage components.
  • If installation is difficult (e.g., misaligned holes), pause and consult the instructions instead of forcing assembly.
