Office Chair Assembly Techniques

Admin October 13, 2026

The assembly techniques for office chairs vary depending on the type. Below are the assembly methods for common office chairs and denim-patched executive chairs:

Common Office Chair Assembly

  1. Installing the Five-Star Base and Casters: Place the five-star base flat on the ground with the front side facing up. Take one caster, align its metal rod with one of the holes on the base, and press down vertically with force. A 'click' sound indicates it is securely in place. Install the remaining four casters in the same manner. If the casters are of the threaded type, simply tighten them clockwise. After installation, lift the base slightly and shake it gently to check if the casters are firmly attached.
  2. Installing the Gas Lift: Ensure the center hole of the five-star base is facing up. Insert the thicker end of the gas lift vertically into the center hole and press down firmly to ensure it is fully inserted at the bottom. Some models may have a plastic protective cap at the top of the gas lift, which should be removed before installation.
  3. Installing the Seat Base (Tray): Flip the seat cushion over so that the bottom is facing up. Locate the pre-installed screw holes on the bottom and remove the pre-installed screws. Align the tray with the holes, paying attention to the front and back directions. First, hand-tighten all the screws loosely, then use the 'diagonal tightening method' to gradually tighten all the screws simultaneously.
  4. Connecting the Seat to the Gas Lift: Lift the seat with the installed tray and locate the center hole on the tray. Align it with the top of the gas lift that is already installed on the five-star base, and gently slide the seat down vertically onto the gas lift.

Denim-Patched Executive Chair Assembly

  1. Disassembling the Executive Chair: Start from the bottom and work your way up. First, remove the casters by using large scissors to pry them out from the interface between the wheel and the chair leg. Next, remove the base by unscrewing the fixing screws with a screwdriver to separate the base from the seat. Then, separate the seat from the gas lift, which may require some side-to-side wiggling. Finally, remove the backrest and armrests by unscrewing the screws with a screwdriver. If the chair base is loose, check the structure such as the five-claw bracket and replace any worn parts.
  2. Cutting the Denim Fabric: Use cardboard to cut out shape templates. Place the templates on the denim fabric and draw the outlines with a marker. Cut along the lines using a heavy-duty fabric cutter or large scissors, paying attention to aligning the fabric grain direction. For stretchy denim, lay it out naturally. When cutting multiple layers of fabric, use clips to hold them in place.
  3. Patching and Sewing: Arrange the cut dark and light fabric pieces alternately to form long strips. Fold about 1cm of the edge of each fabric piece as a seam allowance and sew them together. After sewing, overlock the edges. Sew the assembled long strips together to form the entire chair surface.
