Solid Wood Office Chair Assembly

Admin October 09, 2026

The assembly of solid wood office chairs should be carried out by combining the general installation logic of office chairs with the characteristics of solid wood materials. Although there is no direct tutorial available at present, the following general assembly steps and precautions can be referred to:

I. Basic Assembly Process

  1. Component Classification and Inspection
Classify all components by type (such as chair legs, seat, backrest, armrests, screw packs, etc.) and check for any missing or damaged parts. For solid wood components, pay special attention to observing whether there are cracks or burrs on the surface and whether the mortise-and-tenon joints are intact.

  2. Connecting Chair Legs and Seat
If the chair legs and seat are designed separately, insert the chair legs into the reserved mortise holes or threaded holes at the bottom of the seat. Use the matching screws (usually No. 4 or No. 5 wood screws) to fix them. Ensure that the screws are fully screwed in to avoid scratching the surface when exposed. For solid wood materials, it is recommended to apply a small amount of wood wax oil to the holes first to reduce friction and enhance connection stability.

  3. Backrest Installation
Align the backrest with the connection holes at the rear of the seat and fix it from the bottom of the seat upwards with long screws (such as No. 6). If the backrest and seat are connected with a mortise-and-tenon joint, gently tap them until they fit completely, avoiding excessive force that may cause the tenon to break. For solid wood backrests, check the perpendicularity to ensure there is no tilt after installation.

  4. Armrest Fixation
Depending on the design, the armrests may be directly fixed to both sides of the seat with screws or may need to be installed on the backrest brackets first. When using No. 3 or No. 4 screws, use washers to reduce the pressure of the screws on the wood and prevent cracking. For solid wood armrests, it is recommended to adopt the method of 'pre-tightening first and then adjusting' to ensure that the heights on both sides are consistent.

  5. Detail Adjustment
When installing chair wheels (if it is a rolling model), align the wheels with the metal sockets at the bottom of the chair legs and press them firmly until they are fully engaged. Finally, check that all screws are tightened and shake the chair to test its stability.

II. Special Precautions for Solid Wood Materials

  • Preventing Cracking: Avoid exposing solid wood components to humid or high-temperature environments before assembly and regularly apply wood wax oil for maintenance after assembly.
  • Gentle Tapping: When involving mortise-and-tenon or cover plate installations, use a rubber mallet for gentle tapping. Do not use a metal hammer for direct striking.
  • Screw Selection: Prioritize using the matching wood screws, and the length should be adjusted according to the thickness of the wood (usually two-thirds of the wood thickness).

If complex structures (such as adjustable backrests, pneumatic rods, etc.) are encountered during assembly, it is recommended to refer to the product manual or contact the manufacturer for a solid wood-specific installation guide.
