Office Chair Assembly Process

Admin October 12, 2026

The assembly process of an office chair generally includes the following steps:

  1. Component Inventory: Count all the accompanying components and check them against the instruction manual, including the main chair frame, gas lift, base, seat cushion, backrest, armrests, casters, adjustment wrench, and screw packs, to avoid missing or taking the wrong small parts.

  2. Base and Caster Installation: Place the chair base upside down on a flat, soft surface to prevent scratching the paint. Locate the caster installation holes with clips, press each caster directly into the hole with force, and listen for a 'click' sound indicating proper installation. After installing all five casters using this method, place the base right side up. Alternatively, insert each caster into the five-pronged assembly holes and then flip the five-pronged base.

  3. Gas Lift and Base Connection: Take out the gas lift and align the end with the rubber pad or the thicker end with the center hole of the base or the central hole position. Press down vertically with force to firmly secure the gas lift into the base. Be careful not to install it at an angle, as this may cause jamming or wobbling later.

  4. Seat Cushion and Backrest Assembly: Place the seat cushion and backrest flat on the ground, locate the reserved holes for their connection, pass the matching long screws through the holes, and tighten them with the matching wrench to ensure the screws are fully tightened and prevent the backrest from loosening during subsequent use. Alternatively, place the base on the seat cushion, paying attention to the orientation of the base, align it with the four screw holes, and then lightly screw in the four B screws 3 - 4 turns one by one, and then tighten them fully; align the seat cushion with the gas lift and insert it into the base hole; align the two sides of the bottom of the backrest with the armrest installation positions on both sides of the seat cushion and insert them, first fix the bottom of the backrest with two C screws from the bottom of the armrest bracket, and then align the installation holes at the back of the backrest and the seat bracket, and use two wrenches to lock the backrest and the seat bracket together with D screws.

  5. Chair Frame and Seat Cushion Assembly: Align the assembled seat cushion and backrest unit with the top of the gas lift, press down vertically, allowing the clip on the gas lift to snap into the installation slot at the bottom of the seat cushion. A clicking sound indicates successful connection.

  6. Armrest and Adjustment Component Installation: Align the armrests with the reserved installation holes on both sides of the seat cushion, fix them with short screws, and then locate the adjustment wrench under the seat and install it into the adjustment position on the base. Some armrest models can also adjust height and angle; adjust them to the appropriate positions according to the notches marked in the instruction manual. Alternatively, press the button below the armrest surface and insert the left and right armrests into the holes of the armrest brackets respectively.

  7. Headrest Installation (if applicable): Locate the installation holes for the headrest, place the headrest in the middle at the top of the backrest, press the installation area of the headrest to make it fit more closely with the backrest, fix the headrest with two E screws through the headrest fixing clips, lightly screw in the two screws 3 - 4 turns and then tighten them one by one; alternatively, directly align with the slots at the top of the backrest and tighten the screws.

  8. Final Testing: Gently shake the chair to check for any looseness, pull the adjustment wrench to test if the lifting function works properly, adjust the backrest angle to the appropriate notch, and confirm that all components are securely in place before regular use.
