Office Chair Assembly Method

Admin October 16, 2026

The assembly method of an office chair mainly includes the following steps:

Step 1: Prepare the Components
First, check that all components are complete, including screws, frame brackets, armrests, seat panels, backrests, bases, gas cylinders, and wheels. Depending on the model, there may be differences in the screw specifications. For example, some office chairs require four screws of a specific size. It is recommended to categorize and place the components to avoid omissions or confusion during subsequent installation.

Step 2: Secure the Armrests to the Frame Brackets
Use a tool (such as a rubber mallet) to gently tap the cover on the frame bracket into the appropriate position, ensuring it is firmly embedded. Then, use No. 3 screws to secure the armrests to the frame brackets. Make sure the screws are tightened to prevent looseness, but avoid over-tightening to prevent stripping. This step requires ensuring that the angle between the armrests and the frame brackets meets the design requirements, typically a 90-degree right angle.

Step 3: Install the Base and Wheels
Evenly install the five wheels onto the bottom of the base, ensuring that each wheel is properly snapped into place. Next, insert the gas cylinder into the center hole of the base, making sure that the piston end of the gas cylinder is facing upwards. Then, align the base with the seat panel and use four long screws to pass through from the bottom of the seat panel and secure them to the base. The screws should be tightened in a criss-cross pattern to ensure even force distribution. This step requires checking that the gas cylinder is vertical to avoid tilting during subsequent use.

Step 4: Connect the Backrest to the Seat Panel
Connect the backrest to the seat panel using connecting angle brackets. When using screws to secure them, pay attention to the directional requirements: some models require the black fabric on the back of the backrest to face outwards to hide the internal structure or protect the fabric. During installation, align the holes of the angle brackets to ensure that the angle between the backrest and the seat panel meets ergonomic design requirements (typically a 100-110 degree tilt). Finally, check that all screws are tightened and shake the office chair to test its stability.

Precautions:

  1. It is recommended to wear gloves during the installation process to avoid scratches or pinches.
  2. If the gas cylinder cannot be inserted into the base, apply a small amount of lubricant to assist with installation.
  3. After completing the installation, adjust the height of the gas cylinder to a comfortable position and test the smooth rotation of the wheels.
  4. The component specifications of office chairs from different brands may vary, so be sure to refer to the instruction manual or component list for operation.
