Office Chair Assembly Instructions
Admin October 11, 2026
The steps for assembling an office chair are as follows:

I. Pre-assembly Preparation
- Inventory the Components: This includes a five-star base, 5 casters, a pneumatic lift rod (gas spring), a control tray (base plate) for height adjustment, a seat (cushion), a backrest, armrests, a headrest, screws, and installation tools (such as screwdrivers, Allen wrenches, a rubber mallet, and a tape measure).
- Prepare the Tools: Select a Phillips/flat-head screwdriver or a low-torque electric screwdriver based on the screw type. A rubber mallet is used for installing the gas spring, and a tape measure assists in adjusting spacing.
II. Core Assembly Steps
Install the Five-star Base and Casters
- Place the five-star base with its front side up. Take one caster, align the metal rod with the base hole, and press vertically until you hear a 'click' indicating it is securely fastened. If it is a threaded type, tighten it clockwise.
- After installation, lift the five-star base slightly and shake it gently to confirm that all casters are firmly attached without any looseness.
Install the Pneumatic Lift Rod
- Ensure the center hole of the five-star base is facing up. Remove the plastic protective cap from the top of the pneumatic lift rod (if present), and insert the thicker end vertically into the center hole, pressing firmly until it is fully inserted at the bottom.
Install the Seat Base Plate (Control Tray)
- Flip the seat over so that its bottom is facing up. Locate the four pre-installed screw holes and remove the pre-installed screws.
- Align the holes on the control tray, paying attention to distinguish the front and back directions (the side with the height adjustment lever is the front). Initially screw in all the screws by hand.
- Use the 'diagonal tightening method': First tighten two screws on the diagonal, then tighten the other two. Repeat this process 2-3 times, gradually tightening all the screws simultaneously to ensure the control tray is evenly stressed and not skewed.
Connect the Seat to the Pneumatic Lift Rod
- Lift the seat with the installed control tray, align the center hole of the control tray with the top of the pneumatic lift rod, and steadily slide it down vertically.
Install the Armrests and Backrest
- When installing the armrests, align them with the three holes, avoiding excessive force. Leave them about 90% tight and install washers.
- When installing the backrest, carefully align the holes. It is also recommended to use washers to enhance stability.
Install the Headrest
- After securing the headrest, tighten the screws. Pat it backward with your hand to check the tightness. If it is loose, retighten it.
III. Overall Inspection
- After completing the assembly, shake the office chair left, right, front, and back to check if all components are firmly connected, if the screws are loose, and ensure there are no abnormal sounds or wobbling.
Notes: The components and installation details may vary among different models of office chairs. It is recommended to refer to the product manual first. Some chairs may require the insertion of additional small screws as a safety measure, which should not be overlooked.
