Office Chair Assembly Illustration

Admin October 10, 2026

The assembly of an office chair can be carried out by referring to the following steps:

Step 1: Install the Chair Base and Casters
Insert each caster into the five-pronged mounting holes of the chair base one by one, ensuring that each caster is fully embedded and free of looseness. For some designs, the casters need to be installed onto the chair base one by one first, and then connected to the seat as a whole. Be sure to check that the casters rotate smoothly to avoid subsequent usage issues caused by improper installation.

Step 2: Install the Gas Lift
Align the thicker end of the gas lift vertically with the center hole of the chair base and slowly insert it to the bottom. The gas lift is the core component for adjusting the seat height. Ensure that it is installed in the correct direction and fits tightly with the chair base to prevent tilting or wobbling. Some designs require testing the lifting and lowering function after installing the gas lift.

Step 3: Install the Seat Plate and Seat
Place the seat plate at the bottom of the seat, paying attention to distinguishing the front and back directions (usually, the seat plate has markings or grooves corresponding to the seat structure). After aligning the screw holes, use a screwdriver to screw each screw in 3-4 turns first, and then tighten them sequentially until fixed. In this step, avoid loose screws that could cause the seat plate to wobble, affecting the stability of the chair.

Step 4: Connect the Backrest and Seat

  • Method 1: Align the seat with the gas lift and insert it into the hole of the seat plate. Insert the bottom sides of the backrest into the armrest mounting positions. First, use two C-screws to fix the bottom of the backrest from the bottom of the armrest bracket, and then align the mounting holes at the back of the backrest with those on the seat cushion bracket. Use D-screws to lock them in place with a double wrench.
  • Method 2: If the backrest and seat cushion are designed separately, first use three M8 screws to fix the backrest to the seat cushion bracket, and then connect it to the gas lift as a whole. Key point: Ensure that there are no gaps at the connection between the backrest and seat cushion, and tighten the screws evenly.

Step 5: Install the Armrests
Press the button below the armrest surface (some designs have no button), and insert the left and right armrests into the holes of the armrest brackets respectively. A clicking sound indicates that they are installed in place. Check that the height of the armrests is consistent to avoid discomfort caused by installation deviations.

Step 6: Install the Headrest
Align the headrest with the middle position at the top of the backrest, press the mounting part of the headrest to make it fit the backrest, and use two screws to pass through the fixing clips, screw them in 3-4 turns, and then tighten them one by one. Some designs directly insert the headrest into the reserved slot on the backrest. Ensure that the headrest does not wobble.

Step 7: Install Other Components
If the office chair is equipped with a footrest, insert it into the dedicated hole under the seat cushion and test whether the telescoping function works properly. After installation is complete, conduct a comprehensive check to ensure that all components are firmly connected, and test whether functions such as lifting, rotating, and reclining work smoothly.

Precautions: Read the instruction manual before assembly to confirm the number of parts; avoid scratching the chair surface when using tools; if the screw holes are misaligned, do not force the screws in but realign them before operating.
