Assembly and Disassembly of Office Chairs

Admin October 22, 2026

The assembly and disassembly of office chairs must be carried out strictly in accordance with the steps, and special tools should be prepared to ensure safety and integrity.

Assembly Steps

  1. Installation of Casters and Gas Lift: Align the casters with the holes on the chair legs and insert and secure them. After that, vertically insert the gas lift into the center of the chair legs, ensuring that the bottom is fully in contact and there is no wobbling.
  2. Fixing the Base to the Seat: Use a Phillips screwdriver to fasten the base to the bottom of the seat with screws. Make sure the screws are fully screwed in to prevent loosening.
  3. Assembling the Backrest and the Seat Base: Connect the backrest to the seat using snaps or screws (some models may require an Allen wrench). Then, vertically insert the assembled seat base into the top of the gas lift. A clicking sound indicates that the snap is in place.
  4. Installing the Armrests and Headrest: According to the screw holes reserved on both sides of the seat, use a screwdriver to fix the armrests. The headrest is inserted into the hole at the top of the backrest through the adjustment rod and rotated to lock it in place.

Disassembly Steps

  1. Separating the Backrest: Check the connection method of the backrest. If it is fixed with screws, unscrew them counterclockwise. If it has a snap structure, use a plastic pry bar to gently pry it apart along the gap.
  2. Separating the Seat Base from the Gas Lift:
    • Method 1: Raise the gas lift to the highest position. Press the lift lever with one hand and shake the seat base with the other hand until it is loose, and then pull it out.
    • Method 2: Turn the chair upside down. Use a rubber mallet to evenly tap around the bottom steel ring of the seat base to loosen the snaps, and then pry the seat base. For stubborn cases, step on the five-star base with your feet and shake the seat cushion up and down with both hands to separate it using the lever principle.
    • Method 3: After raising the gas lift to the highest position and turning it upside down, use an iron hammer with a diameter of at least 3 cm to quickly tap around the gas lift or the bottom edge until the seat base falls off.
  3. Removing the Gas Lift: Turn the chair legs upside down and tap the bottom of the gas lift with a rubber mallet or a wooden board to make it come out of the hole in the chair legs.
  4. Disassembling Other Parts: Follow the reverse order of assembly. Use a screwdriver or a wrench to loosen the screws to separate parts such as the armrests and headrest.

Precautions

  • Tool Preparation: Phillips/flat-head screwdrivers, wrenches, rubber mallets, pry bars, rags, and loosening agents (for rusty parts).
  • Safe Operation: Take photos to record the structure before disassembly and store the parts in categories. Avoid violent tapping to prevent part deformation.
  • Special Structures: For some gas lifts, use a snap plier to pull out the safety pin or use an electric drill to assist in removing stubborn screws.
