Office Chair Assembly and Disassembly
Admin October 10, 2026
The assembly and disassembly of office chairs should follow a certain order and specifications. For assembly, it is recommended to proceed from the bottom up, while for disassembly, safety should be prioritized and techniques should be mastered.

Assembly Steps
- Installation of Casters and Pneumatic Rod: First, install the casters onto the chair legs, ensuring that each caster is securely attached to prevent loosening. After installing the chair legs, vertically place the pneumatic rod into the center of the chair legs, ensuring alignment between the pneumatic rod and the center of the chair legs to provide stable support for subsequent assembly.
- Fixing the Chassis to the Seat: Attach the chassis to the seat using screws. Use an appropriate screwdriver, following the specifications of the screws and the mounting holes on the chassis and seat, to tighten the screws one by one. Ensure that the chassis and seat are tightly connected without any wobbling.
- Installation of the Backrest and Connection to the Base: After the seat is installed, connect the backrest to the seat. Use appropriate tools to assemble them according to the connecting components on the backrest and seat. Next, vertically insert the base onto the pneumatic rod, ensuring a secure connection between the base and the pneumatic rod that can support the weight of a person.
- Installation of Armrests and Headrest: Finally, install the armrests and headrest. Fix them in place using screws or other connecting components according to their installation positions and methods, completing the overall structure of the office chair.
Disassembly Precautions
Disassembling an office chair is more challenging than assembling it. If not absolutely necessary, try to avoid disassembly. If disassembly is required, prioritize safety. For other parts, simply loosen the screws in the reverse order of assembly. However, there are two parts that are more difficult to disassemble.
- Separation of the Seat and Pneumatic Rod: When disassembling the base, first separate the backrest. Then, raise the pneumatic rod to its highest position. Hold the seat cushion with one hand and press the height adjustment lever with the other hand, shaking it a few times to remove it. During this process, be mindful of applying an appropriate amount of force to avoid damaging the components.
- Separation of the Pneumatic Rod and Chair Legs: When disassembling the pneumatic rod, after separating the base from the pneumatic rod, invert the chair legs. It is best to use a rubber mallet to tap it out. If a rubber mallet is not available, use a piece of wood as a cushion to prevent direct impact from damaging the chair legs or pneumatic rod.
