Office Chair Assembly

Admin October 14, 2026

Office chairs can be assembled, and the general assembly steps are as follows:

I. Understanding the Components
An office chair typically consists of components such as chair legs, casters, a base, a seat, a gas lift, a backrest, armrests, and a headrest. Different models of office chairs may have slight variations in component design. For example, some chairs may not have a headrest, or the armrests may be adjustable. Before assembly, check the parts list to ensure all components are present and undamaged. Taking the Livorno M40 office chair as an example, before installation, check the chair's leather surface for scratches and confirm that all installation parts are complete. If any issues are found, contact customer service promptly.

II. Assembly from Bottom to Top

  1. Installing Chair Legs and Casters
Install each caster into the holes on the chair legs. There are two common installation methods: one is to directly press the universal wheels to make them snap into the holes of the five-star legs; the other is to secure them through rotation or screws. After installation, insert the gas lift vertically into the center hole of the chair legs, ensuring that the bottom of the gas lift is fully in contact with the chair legs. For some chairs, after inserting the gas lift into the center hole of the base, flip the base to make it stand upright.

  2. Securing the Base to the Seat
Place the base on the bottom of the seat and secure it with the provided screws. Make sure the screws are tightened until there is no wobbling between the base and the seat to prevent loosening during subsequent use. For some chairs, the base may have an integrated height adjustment function, and during installation, ensure that the adjustment lever faces outward.

  3. Connecting the Backrest to the Seat
Depending on the design, there are two types of connection methods:

  • Snap-fit type: Slide the backrest obliquely into the pins on the seat. A clicking sound indicates that it is properly engaged, and then cover the fabric and secure it firmly.
  • Screw-fixed type: Install screws on the corner brackets connecting the backrest and the seat. Pay attention to aligning the screw direction with the holes to avoid misalignment, which could lead to an unstable structure.
  1. Assembling the Base and the Gas Lift
Insert the base with the installed seat vertically into the top of the gas lift, ensuring a tight connection with no gaps. For some chairs, gently press the base to make it fully engage with the gas lift.

  2. Installing Armrests and the Headrest
Finally, install the armrests and the headrest. The armrests are usually fixed to both sides of the seat with screws and should be adjusted to a symmetrical position. The headrest is inserted into the reserved hole at the top of the backrest, and some models may require additional screws for reinforcement.

III. Inspection and Adjustment
After assembly, check that all screws are tightened and that the connections between components are secure. Test whether functions such as height adjustment and rotation work properly, whether the armrest height is adjustable (if applicable), and whether the headrest angle is comfortable. If any abnormalities are found, re-check the assembly steps or contact after-sales service.
