Office Chair Assembly

Admin October 09, 2026

The assembly of an office chair usually proceeds from the bottom up, with the following specific steps:

  1. Install the casters and gas lift Install each caster onto the chair base one by one, ensuring that each wheel clicks securely into place. For example, the TOAI E1 office chair requires the wheels to be pressed into the base, while the 526 office chair requires the five rollers to be inserted sequentially into the base. After installation, place the gas lift vertically into the center hole of the chair base, ensuring it is stable and does not wobble. The gas lift is the core component for adjusting the seat height, so it must be kept vertical during installation to avoid tilting, which could lead to subsequent usage issues.

  2. Connect the seat and backrest Take out the seat cushion and align it with the backrest before connecting them. Use the appropriate screws according to the model for fixation. For instance, the TOAI E1 office chair requires three M8 screws to tighten the backrest, while the 526 office chair uses four M6*25mm screws to install the armrests and backrest. Pay attention to matching the screw specifications in this step to avoid unstable connections due to incorrect models. Some backrests may require pre-installation of adjustment mechanisms, so refer to the instruction manual for operation.

  3. Install the armrests Connect the armrests to the seat cushion; for some models, the armrest brackets need to be installed first. For example, the 526 office chair requires four M630mm screws to connect the armrests to the seat cushion, then two M825mm screws to fix the armrest brackets to the armrests, and finally, install the decorative covers. Ensure that the armrests are horizontally aligned during installation to avoid uneven heights that could affect the user experience. If the armrests are height-adjustable, install the adjustment buttons or locking mechanisms simultaneously.

  4. Install the footrest (if applicable) If the chair is equipped with a footrest, insert it into the dedicated hole beneath the seat cushion, ensuring that the catch locks completely. Some footrests require additional screws for fixation, so follow the instruction manual for operation. The installation position of the footrest should align with the seat cushion to prevent sliding or detachment during use.

  5. Install the headrest Insert the headrest into the reserved hole on the backrest or mounting plate and secure it with the corresponding screws. For example, the 526 office chair requires two M6*25mm screws to install the headrest. The height and angle of the headrest are usually adjustable, so test the adjustment function after installation to ensure it works properly.

  6. Overall assembly Align the assembled chair seat with the gas lift and slowly slide it on, ensuring that the base is fully in contact with the gas lift. This step requires both hands to operate to avoid tilting the gas lift due to unilateral force. After installation, check that all screws are tightened, the wheels rotate smoothly, and the gas lift raises and lowers without obstruction.

Precautions: Check the parts list before assembly to avoid omissions; be mindful of the force when using tools to avoid scratching the chair surface; if the catch is too tight, use a rubber mallet to tap gently for assistance, and do not forcefully disassemble it.
