Office Chair Armrest Switch

Admin October 11, 2026

Office chair armrest switches offer a variety of functions and adjustment methods. Common types and operating instructions are as follows:

1. Vertical Movement or Inward/Outward Angle Adjustment

These switches use mechanical structures to enable personalized adjustment of armrest height or angle, catering to different heights or sitting postures. Vertical movement is typically achieved by pressing a button on the side of the armrest or lifting it directly, with automatic locking upon release. Inward/outward angle adjustment requires rotating a knob at the front of the armrest or pushing a slider on the side, with confirmation of locking status after adjustment. Such designs reduce fatigue caused by arm suspension during prolonged office work, especially suitable for users who frequently change sitting positions.

2. Knob-Type Adjustment

Some office chairs integrate function switching into the armrest knob, enabling multi-scenario adaptation through rotation. For example, to adjust the backrest angle, tighten the right armrest knob fully, then pull a hidden lever beneath the armrest to activate the recline mode. To switch to a lying position, both armrest knobs may need to be rotated to specific positions simultaneously. Such designs are common in mid-to-high-end models, and users should carefully read the instructions before operation to avoid accidental triggering.

3. Paddle-Type or Touch-Control Operation

High-end office chairs often employ paddle-type buttons (using lever principles) or touch-control buttons (with built-in pressure sensors) for precise control. Paddle-type buttons are usually located on the side of the armrest, allowing easy height or angle adjustment with a light flick. Touch-control buttons are activated by finger pressure, with some models supporting combined functions (e.g., pressing both armrests simultaneously to activate the reset mode). Such designs offer convenient operation but require caution to prevent liquid spills that may damage electronic components.

4. Hidden Function Combination Keys

A few office chairs activate special modes (e.g., reset memory function or child lock mode) by simultaneously pressing the armrest and other buttons (such as the height adjustment key) for more than 5 seconds. Such designs require reference to the product manual, as combination methods may vary across models. Forced operation may lead to system locking.

Maintenance Tips: If mechanical adjustment is sluggish, apply a small amount of WD-40 lubricant to the joints. For electronic control armrest malfunctions, check the USB charging port connection or restart the power. Always confirm the adjustment mechanism type before operation to avoid structural damage caused by excessive force.
