Office Chair Armrest Repair

Admin October 17, 2026

The repair of an office chair armrest requires selecting an appropriate method based on the extent of the damage. Here are some common repair approaches:

If the office chair armrest is broken, there are two repair strategies. The first method involves using woodworking glue to bond the broken parts. To ensure a strong bond, apply the glue multiple times. After bonding, drill holes diagonally with an electric drill and then vertically. Insert a glue-coated wooden stick into the holes as a framework to prevent misalignment and further cracking of the armrest. Cut off the excess part of the wooden stick, flatten it with a knife, and then sand it smooth. Next, apply paint while heating, further sand it with fine sandpaper, and finally spray a topcoat to restore the armrest's aesthetics and sturdiness. The second method involves directly clamping the broken part, drilling holes diagonally, and patching it with a round stick. After inserting the round stick into the holes, saw off the excess part and polish it with sandpaper. For areas with existing cracks, repeatedly glue them with 502 glue, sand them, and then paint to create a natural wood grain appearance.

If the armrest surface of an office swivel chair is damaged, first remove the armrest surface. Use a pencil to draw the outline of a new armrest surface on paper based on the size of the old one, and then draw the corresponding panel outline on small wooden strips. Next, use woodworking glue to assemble the small wooden strips and saw out the shape of the armrest surface with a handsaw. After that, sand the sawed armrest surface. Apply paint or wood wax oil according to your needs. Painting or applying wood wax oil can protect the armrest surface and enhance its aesthetics. Finally, install the finished wooden armrest surface on the chair to complete the repair.

When repairing an office chair armrest, pay attention to operational safety. Wear protective gear when using tools such as electric drills. Also, select appropriate materials such as glue, wood, and paint to ensure the repair effect and service life. If you are not familiar with the repair process or the armrest is severely damaged, it is advisable to seek the help of professional repair personnel.
