Office Chair Armrest Repair

Admin October 16, 2026

The repair method for office chair armrests needs to be determined based on the material of the armrest and the extent of the damage. Common repair methods are as follows:

Repair of Solid Wood Chair Armrests

If the solid wood chair armrest breaks, for an ordinary solid wood chair, first use a nail gun to connect and reinforce the broken position to ensure that the broken part is initially fixed. Then, use repair material to fill in the cracks and the marks left by the nail gun. After the repair material dries, sand the repaired area with sandpaper to make the surface smooth. Next, mix a suitable color according to the original color of the armrest and then apply the color so that the repaired part matches the original armrest. For armrests with wood grain, you also need to draw the wood grain to make the repaired area blend naturally with the surrounding wood grain. Finally, apply a topcoat to protect and beautify it.

For Thai-style solid wood chair armrests, the repair process is more delicate. The experienced craftsman will first fix the broken end, drill holes in the cross-section, and insert matching wooden plugs. This step is to enhance the connection strength of the broken part. After the glue dries and the crack closes, carefully sand the joint area with fine sandpaper to make it flat and smooth. Then, mix the color, accurately grasping the color and texture characteristics of the original wood. Continue sanding until the surface is clean and smooth. Next, apply tung oil for protection. Tung oil can enhance the waterproofness and durability of the wood. Then, use a dye pen to trace and blend on the repaired area. Through meticulous operations, make the newly repaired part blend perfectly with the original wood color, achieving an effect where the repair marks are almost invisible.

Repair and Modification of the Surface of Office Swivel Chair Armrests

When the surface of an office swivel chair armrest needs to be repaired and modified, first remove the armrest surface with suitable tools. Use a pencil to draw the outline of a new armrest surface on a piece of cardboard according to the size of the old armrest surface. This step is to ensure the accurate size of the new armrest surface. Draw the corresponding panel outline on small wooden strips and use woodworking glue to assemble the small wooden strips to form the basic frame of the armrest surface. Then, use a handsaw to saw out the shape of the armrest surface to meet the design requirements. After that, sand and apply paint (or wood wax oil). Sanding can make the surface smooth, and applying paint or wood wax oil can protect and decorate it. Finally, install the made wooden armrest surface on the armrest to complete the repair and modification.
