Peeling of Office Chair Armrest

Admin October 14, 2026

Measures to address peeling of office chair armrests include using leather repair patches, understanding the causes of peeling and addressing them accordingly, and replacing the armrest leather surface.

Using Leather Repair Patches

Leather repair patches are a convenient repair method. They have a genuine leather texture and can be directly applied to the peeling area without the need for glue. They have good adhesion and are less likely to curl at the edges. The operation is simple; just peel and stick to repair the damaged area. This method is suitable for cases where the peeling area is small and the damage is relatively minor. It can quickly improve the appearance of the office chair armrest and is relatively low-cost.

Understanding the Causes of Peeling and Addressing Them Accordingly

There are various reasons for the peeling of office chair armrests, including frequent friction, prolonged exposure to sunlight, long-term exposure to a humid environment, or improper maintenance. Different repair methods can be adopted for different causes.

  • Using imitation leather repair adhesive: First, clean the leather surface to be repaired to remove dust and stains and ensure the surface is clean. Then, evenly apply the repair adhesive to the peeling area and press it flat with embossing paper to make the adhesive fully adhere to the leather, restoring its flatness and texture.
  • Using imitation leather repair paste: Similarly, clean the surface first and carefully insert the repair paste into the cracked area to fill the damaged part. Then, press it flat with embossing paper to blend the repair paste with the surrounding leather and achieve the repair effect.
  • Using household shoe polish or leather renewal cream for care: First, clean the surface with a leather brush to remove dust and impurities. Then, apply the shoe polish or leather renewal cream to replenish nutrients to the leather, enhance its toughness and luster. Finally, wipe it with a cloth to make the leather surface smoother.

Replacing the Armrest Leather Surface

If the peeling is severe and the above methods cannot effectively repair it, consider replacing the armrest leather surface. First, carefully remove the leather from the computer chair surface to avoid damaging the chair structure. Then, remove the original fabric and clean up any residual glue and debris. Finally, cut the required chair cover shape and size from the whole piece of fabric according to the measured dimensions for replacement. Although replacing the leather surface is relatively costly, it can completely solve the peeling problem and make the office chair armrest look brand new.
