Office Chair Armrest Cleaning

Admin October 12, 2026

The cleaning of office chair armrests requires choosing appropriate methods based on the material, as different materials have different cleaning approaches.

Cleaning of Leather Armrests

Leather armrests on office chairs are quite common and require extra care during cleaning. First, use a clean, damp cloth to gently wipe the surface of the armrest. This step is mainly to remove dust and dirt attached to the surface. Be gentle to avoid scratching the leather with excessive force. When wiping, follow the grain direction of the leather to better protect its texture.

After the initial wiping, use a dedicated leather cleaner. Spray an appropriate amount of the leather cleaner onto a soft sponge or a clean cloth, then evenly apply it to the surface of the armrest and gently wipe in circles. This allows the cleaner to fully penetrate into the grain of the leather and break down stains. After using the cleaner, wipe off any remaining cleaner on the surface of the armrest with a clean, damp cloth to prevent damage to the leather from cleaner residue.

Finally, use a leather conditioner for maintenance. The conditioner can replenish moisture and nutrients for the leather, enhance its toughness and luster, and extend its service life. Apply the conditioner evenly to the surface of the armrest and gently massage until fully absorbed. Note that avoid using irritating solvents such as alcohol. These solvents can damage the surface coating of the leather, causing it to harden, fade, or even crack.

Cleaning of Plastic Armrests

For plastic armrests on office chairs, cleaning is relatively simple. You can directly wipe them with a diluted neutral cleaner. Add an appropriate amount of neutral cleaner to clean water, stir well, then dip a clean cloth into the cleaning solution and gently wipe the surface of the armrest to effectively remove stains and grease.

During the cleaning process, use cotton swabs to carefully clean the crevices. The small head of cotton swabs can reach deep into the crevices to remove hidden dust and dirt, ensuring that all parts of the armrest are thoroughly cleaned. After wiping, rinse the surface of the armrest with clean water and then dry it with a dry cloth.

Cleaning of Height Adjustment Handles

If the height adjustment handle of an office chair malfunctions due to the accumulation of dirt and dust, you can use a professional cleaner and a soft cloth. Spray the professional cleaner onto the soft cloth, then carefully wipe the handle and its surrounding area to thoroughly remove accumulated dirt and dust. During the wiping process, be careful not to let the cleaner flow into the internal mechanical structure of the handle to avoid affecting its normal operation. After cleaning, wait for the handle to dry naturally and then test whether its adjustment function has returned to normal.
