Office Chair Armrest Button

Admin October 11, 2026

The main functions of the office chair armrest button include adjusting the backrest rebound force, adjusting the seat height, and adjusting the headrest position.

Adjusting the backrest rebound force: The armrests of some office chairs are designed to control the rebound force of the backrest. After the user activates the backrest recline function, rotating the armrest clockwise or counterclockwise can adjust the force with which the backrest returns to its original position under pressure. Rotating clockwise usually increases the rebound force, causing the backrest to return to an upright position more quickly under pressure; while rotating counterclockwise decreases the rebound force, allowing the backrest to remain in a reclined position for a longer time under pressure, thus providing more comfortable support.

Adjusting the seat height: The armrest button of an office chair plays an important role in adjusting the seat height. For ordinary pneumatic swivel chairs, if the chair has only one armrest, lifting the armrest upwards can raise the seat; when a person is seated on the chair, lifting the armrest upwards again can lower the seat. If the chair has two armrests, one of which is specifically for height adjustment, the operation method is the same as that of a single-armrest chair. For mechanical lift chairs, which use the screw principle, rotating the armrest adjusts the seat height; rotating counterclockwise lowers the seat, while rotating clockwise raises it. Pneumatic lift chairs offer more diverse adjustment methods, with common adjustment devices including pneumatic rod adjustment levers and knob-type adjusters. The pneumatic rod adjustment lever usually lifts upwards and uses body weight to lower the seat; lifting upwards with slight body contact or leaving the seat raises it. The knob-type adjuster usually lowers the seat by rotating clockwise and raises it by rotating counterclockwise.

Adjusting the headrest position: The headrests of some office chairs are designed to be adjustable to meet the needs of different users. These headrests can usually rotate and adjust their height up and down. Users can adjust the position of the headrest by operating the armrest or button, making it better fit the neck and head, providing comfortable support, and reducing fatigue caused by prolonged sitting.
