Office Chair Armrest Bending

Admin October 11, 2026

Office chair armrest bending involves aspects such as testing equipment, bending mechanisms, and manual fabrication methods.

In terms of testing equipment, the office chair armrest fatigue and alternating bending durability tester plays a crucial role. This device can perform alternating bending tests on the left and right armrests, as well as bidirectional reciprocating fatigue tests, accurately simulating complex working conditions such as daily leaning, forcefulๆŽฐๅŠจ (Note: 'ๆŽฐๅŠจ' is translated as 'forceful twisting' here for context, but a more precise term might be needed based on actual usage), lateral pressure application, and multi-angle bending by the human body. Through these tests, the bending resistance, fatigue resistance, and anti-loosening durability of components such as the armrest support, plastic housing, adjustment pivot, and fixing hardware can be evaluated, ensuring the stability and reliability of the armrests during long-term use.

The design of the bending mechanism is also highly critical. There is a bending mechanism for office chair armrests that includes a support frame. A forming workbench is welded between the right inner wall and the bottom end of the support frame, with an armrest flat tube placed at the top end. A cylinder is fixed at the top end of the support frame, and the piston rod at the bottom end of the cylinder passes through the support frame and is fixedly connected to a forming pressure wheel. During the bending process, the driven gears meshed on both sides rotate synchronously, cooperating with the threaded connection of the screw rod on the support frame, causing its end to rotate within the third bearing to achieve the effect of pushing the pressure plate, thereby completing the stable positioning of the armrest flat tube. Additionally, a pressure block is placed inside the adjustment chamber, and a rubber buffer block forms a soft connection with the pressure plate. Combined with rubber circular protrusions at the bottom end, they press against the upper surface of the armrest flat tube to create an anti-slip and stable effect, preventing the armrest flat tube from falling off during the bending process and ensuring the precision and quality of the bending.

When manually fabricating armrest chairs, there is also a set of procedures for processing curved wood. First, use an axe to divide the ash wood into small pieces, remove the outer bark with a scraper, then cut it into strips using a machine, and let it dry for more than three months to remove moisture. Place the dried curved wood into a steamer and soften it with hot steam, then manually straighten the curved parts. Shave the wood surface, and after cutting, wrap five pieces together with a rope and bend them for fixation. After 48 hours, remove the fixing fixtures. Once the boards are shaped, apply polyurethane glue inside the boards and fix them according to the mold using fixtures. After the glue solidifies, perform subsequent treatments such as sanding on the wood surface to ultimately obtain armrests that meet the requirements.
