Office Chair Armrest Adhesion

Admin October 09, 2026

For the adhesion of office chair armrests, appropriate repair methods can be selected according to different materials and requirements. The following are some common methods:

Adhesion of Plastic Office Chair Armrests

  • Adhesion with Strong Glue: First, clean the disconnected parts of the plastic armrest to remove dust, oil stains, and other impurities, ensuring that the bonding surface is clean and dry. Gently sand the bonding surface with sandpaper to increase the surface roughness, which allows the glue to adhere better. Select a strong glue suitable for plastic materials, such as 502 glue or AB glue, and evenly apply it to the two disconnected bonding surfaces. Be sure to apply an appropriate amount to avoid glue overflow. Quickly align and tightly press the disconnected parts together, and then apply pressure for a period of time. The curing time of different glues varies, generally ranging from a few hours to a day. Ensure that the adhesion is firm before using the chair again.
  • Repair with Carbon Powder and Strong Glue: First, perform a preliminary adhesion of the disconnected plastic armrest parts according to the method of using strong glue. While the glue is not fully cured, evenly sprinkle carbon powder on the bonding area. Carbon powder can fill the tiny gaps on the surface of the glue and, when combined with the glue, form a texture similar to plastic with a similar color. After the glue is fully cured, gently sand the repaired area with sandpaper to make the surface smooth. If there is too much carbon powder attached, gently wipe it off with a damp cloth to remove the excess.
  • General Glue Adhesion Steps: Keep the two broken ends aligned and evenly apply the glue to the surface of the broken ends, especially inside the broken ends, to ensure that the glue fully penetrates. After the glue dries, repeatedly check the firmness of the armrest. If it is not firm, make necessary adjustments.

Adhesion of Wooden Office Chair Armrests

For chairs made of wood, woodworking glue can be used to try to reattach the chair armrests. When using woodworking glue, pay attention to controlling the amount of glue. Too much or too little can affect the adhesion effect. At the same time, apply an appropriate amount of bonding force during the adhesion process to ensure that the armrests are firmly connected together.
