Anti-Static Office Chair

Admin October 11, 2026

Anti-static office chairs are specialized seating solutions designed to eliminate static electricity through special materials and designs, suitable for electrostatic-sensitive environments such as electronics, medical, and precision manufacturing.

I. Core Functions and Principles

Anti-static chairs (ESD chairs) create a low-resistance path using conductive/dissipative materials to safely ground static electricity accumulated on the human body, preventing damage to sensitive electronic components, precision instruments, or medical equipment. Their surface resistance values are typically controlled within the range of 10โดฮฉ to 10ยนยนฮฉ (commonly 10โถฮฉ to 10โนฮฉ), ensuring rapid and controlled static discharge rates to prevent electrical sparks or shock risks.

II. Materials and Structural Design

  1. Surface Materials

    • Leather Types: Utilize PU/PVC anti-static leather paired with conductive stitching or metal components, balancing comfort and conductivity, with seat dimensions up to 440ร—400mm.
    • Injection-Molded Types: PP injection-molded in one piece, with surface resistivity ranging from 10โดฮฉ to 10โถฮฉ, resistant to chemical corrosion and easy to clean.
    • Foamed Types: PU foam material, height-adjustable (460-870mm), with non-slip patterns on the surface, suitable for CLASS1000 cleanrooms.
  2. Conductive Structures

    • Grounding is achieved through conductive casters, metal chains, or four-leg metal frames.
    • Height-adjustable chairs use special conductive gas springs or wrap the gas spring with a conductive layer/tape and ground it to ensure continuous conductive paths.
    • The footrests are mostly made of cold-rolled steel pipes or chrome-plated alloys to meet high-strength load-bearing requirements.

III. Types and Suitable Scenarios

  1. By Function

    • Stools and Backrest Chairs: Support structures include fixed iron frames or height-adjustable five-star bases, which can be equipped with casters (for mobility needs) or foot cups (for fixed needs).
    • Special Function Models: Equipped with pneumatic height adjustment, backrest tilt, 360-degree rotation, and height adjustment from 460-600mm, suitable for ergonomic needs.
  2. By Material

    • Stainless Steel Models: Corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant, suitable for outdoor or harsh environments.
    • Cleanroom-Specific Models: Foamed chairs with no particle shedding on the surface, suitable for cleanliness standards ranging from Class 100 to Class 10,000.

IV. Usage Precautions

  1. Resistance Value Monitoring: Regularly test the surface resistance to ensure it remains within the range of 10โถฮฉ to 10โนฮฉ, and replace it promptly if it fails.
  2. Environmental Humidity: Avoid using in low-humidity environments (<30%RH), as low humidity can weaken static dissipation capabilities.
  3. Cleaning and Maintenance: Wipe with a neutral detergent and avoid using cleaning products containing organic solvents to prevent material aging and degradation of conductive properties.
