Office Chair Anti-Slip Treatment

Admin October 22, 2026

Office chair anti-slip treatment can be achieved through methods such as replacing wheels, optimizing chair design, and increasing friction. Here are specific methods and their principle analyses:

1. Replace wheels with locking functions

  • Brake-locking wheels: These typically have a diameter of 60 millimeters and are wrapped in soft PU material, paired with a silent sleeve to reduce friction noise. By flipping a specific part of the wheel, you can switch between locked and mobile states, suitable for scenarios requiring frequent adjustments between fixed and mobile positions.
  • Gravity wheels: These utilize gravity to trigger an internal mechanical structure, increasing the lateral resistance of the wheels. When a person sits on the chair, the wheels automatically lock due to gravity, requiring significant force to move them. They also operate quietly, making them suitable for environments with high noise-reduction requirements.
  • Gravity self-locking wheels: Further optimized in design, these wheels automatically lock when seated and slide when standing up, without manual operation, balancing convenience and anti-slip needs.

2. Adopt a fixed chair design

  • Chair fixed feet: These directly replace traditional wheels with fixed supports, completely eliminating the possibility of sliding and providing the best anti-slip effect. However, they sacrifice mobility flexibility and are only suitable for scenarios with extremely high fixed requirements, such as laboratories and precision instrument workstations.

3. Use independent wheels with brakes

  • These wheels can be locked or unlocked individually, requiring the user to operate each of the five wheels to control chair movement. They offer high flexibility but involve more operational steps, suitable for scenarios requiring temporary fixation without long-term locking.

4. Increase ground friction

  • Lay rough carpets: By utilizing the texture of the carpet surface to increase friction with the wheels, sliding is reduced. This method is low-cost and easy to install, but the anti-slip effect is influenced by the carpet material and thickness. Regular carpet cleaning is required to maintain performance, suitable for temporary scenarios with low fixation requirements.
  • Stick self-adhesive foot pads: Choose wear-resistant felt or silicone-backed adhesive foot pads, cut them according to the circumference of the chair legs, and stick them on. Felt models offer better shock absorption and noise reduction, while silicone models provide stronger anti-slip and wear resistance. Before installation, thoroughly clean the surface of the chair legs to ensure adhesion. However, the adhesive may degrade over time and require regular replacement.

Selection advice:

  • If you need to balance mobility and fixation, prioritize gravity self-locking wheels or brake-locking wheels;
  • For long-term fixation, use chair fixed feet;
  • If you have a limited budget and low anti-slip requirements, you can try carpets or self-adhesive foot pads, but be prepared to accept their shortcomings in durability.
