Office Chair Angle Adjustment

Admin October 13, 2026

Office chair angle adjustment primarily involves adjusting the recline angle, with different adjustment mechanisms requiring different operational methods. It is also important to maintain an appropriate sitting posture angle.

Operational Methods for Different Adjustment Mechanisms

  1. Lever Adjustment System: Commonly found in mid-range and high-end office chairs. The adjustment lever is typically located beneath the seat, near the right or left side. If the chair has a locking function, gently pull or push the lever to release the lock, then lean back while adjusting the lever to achieve a comfortable recline angle. Once the desired angle is reached, pull or push the lever again to lock the position.
  2. Knob Adjustment System: Often used in ergonomic chairs. The knob is usually located near the center of the lower part of the seat, close to the support column. Turning the knob clockwise typically increases the recline resistance of the chair back, while turning it counterclockwise decreases the resistance. Adjust the tilt of the chair back according to your body weight and preferences. Some chairs may have a separate knob for adjusting the recline angle; refer to the product manual for specific instructions.
  3. Pneumatic Adjustment System: Some modern office chairs use a pneumatic system to assist with adjustments. The pneumatic lever is usually arranged together with the height adjustment lever, and the recline is adjusted by pushing in different directions. Gently pull the lever to adjust the chair back to a comfortable angle when in use.

Appropriate Sitting Posture Angle

An appropriate sitting posture angle is slightly reclined, approximately between 100 and 110 degrees. This posture effectively reduces pressure on the lumbar spine, with the key being to keep the entire back, especially the lower back, in contact with the chair back. Many chairs are equipped with lumbar supports, which can be adjusted to the point that precisely supports the natural curve of the lumbar spine, providing better lumbar support and reducing fatigue and injury caused by prolonged sitting.

When adjusting the angle of an office chair, follow the corresponding operational steps based on the adjustment mechanism used by the chair. At the same time, maintaining an appropriate sitting posture angle helps improve comfort during work and study and protects physical health.
