Office Chair and Star Chasing

Admin October 08, 2026

The direct connection between “office chairs” and “star chasing” is relatively weak, but their potential links can be analyzed from three perspectives: the functional needs of seats in celebrities' work scenarios, the symbolic significance of seats in star-chasing culture, and the versatility of functional chairs.

1. Functional needs of seats in celebrities' work scenarios
Due to the unique nature of their profession, celebrities often work under high-intensity conditions and have far higher functional requirements for seats than in ordinary office settings. For example, Wang Yibo once made professional demands regarding the seats in his tour bus: the aviation seats needed to support a deep sleep mode to alleviate fatigue from long working hours, and the storage space needed to be equipped with fingerprint-unlocked hidden compartments for storing important items and protecting privacy. Such cases indicate that celebrities have extreme pursuits for the comfort, safety, and privacy protection functions of seats in mobile work or rest scenarios, indirectly reflecting that seat design needs to be adapted to the particularities of the profession. Although such seats are mostly used in mobile scenarios, their functional design logic shares commonalities with high-end office chairs, both emphasizing ergonomics and scenario adaptability.

2. The symbolic significance of seats in star-chasing culture
In star-chasing culture, seats have transcended their practical functions and become symbols of a celebrity's status, fans' discourse power, and the rules within fan circles. For instance, at events like the Weibo Night, the seating arrangement is regarded by fans as a direct reflection of a celebrity's status. The incident where Xiao Zhan's nameplate was moved triggered a chain reaction, resulting in empty seats in the core seating area. In such events, seats become concrete carriers of the fan economy and fan circle culture, even giving rise to subcultural phenomena like the “seat war”. Although this symbolic significance has nothing to do with the physical properties of seats, it reflects the in-depth interpretation and emotional projection of star-chasing behavior towards the spatial element of “seats”.

3. The versatility support of functional chairs
If the concept of “office chairs” is expanded to functional chairs, their adjustable designs (such as lumbar support, armrests, and reclining linkage) can meet the comfort needs of star-chasing activities. For example, fans need to maintain a seated position for long periods during activities like supporting their idols or watching live streams, and the support provided by ergonomic chairs can alleviate physical fatigue. However, such connections are more based on the universal attributes of seats and have a relatively weak direct link with star-chasing behavior, mainly reflecting the adaptability of functional chairs in different scenarios.
