Office Chair and Sofa Cleaning

Admin October 19, 2026

The cleaning of office chairs and sofas should be carried out using different methods depending on the material, as detailed below:

Wooden parts: When cleaning, use a mixture of neutral soap and water for wiping. Avoid using cleaners that are too acidic or alkaline to prevent damage to the wooden surface. After wiping, thoroughly rinse off any remaining soap solution with clean water, and then dry the surface with a dry cloth to prevent moisture penetration, which can cause the wood to warp or mold. For daily maintenance, regularly apply wooden furniture maintenance paint to form a protective layer, delay aging, and maintain shine.

Leather parts: Choose a neutral cleaner with a pH between 5 and 7 to avoid damaging the leather structure with strong acids or alkalis. When applying the cleaner, control the amount to prevent excessive wetness in local areas, which can lead to leather hardening or fading. It is recommended to wipe the surface multiple times with a cloth until it is slightly dry. For daily maintenance, lightly wipe the surface with a clean, damp towel every week to remove dust. If there are stains, gently wipe them with a damp sponge dipped in a small amount of detergent, avoiding vigorous rubbing.

Fabric parts: If the covers are removable, elastic materials can be washed directly in a washing machine, while cotton or linen materials are recommended to be sent to a laundry for processing to prevent shrinkage or deformation. When ironing, adjust the method according to the fabric characteristics: for easy-care elastic covers that require ironing, operate from the inside to protect the appearance; cotton covers should not be ironed to avoid fiber hardening due to high temperatures. For daily cleaning, reduce the use of cleaners containing irritating chemicals and add fabric softener to keep the fabric soft and prevent it from becoming stiff or dull in color.

Detailed cleaning: For areas prone to dirt accumulation, such as sofa seams, cushion seams, and armrests, use a crevice tool to thoroughly suck up dust and hair fragments to prevent long-term accumulation and bacterial growth.

Professional maintenance advice: Regardless of the material, office chairs and sofas that have been used for 2 to 3 years are recommended to be sent to a professional furniture maintenance shop for systematic cleaning and maintenance. Through deep cleaning, care, and repair, their service life can be extended, ensuring comfort and appearance.
