Materials for Office Chairs and Cubicles

Admin October 09, 2026

The materials for office chairs and cubicles are diverse, mainly including frame, surface, partition, and other auxiliary materials, as detailed below:

Frame materials are the core components supporting the overall structure, with common types including:

  1. Panel structure: Using E-grade medium-density fiberboard (MDF) as the base material, processed through a production line to ensure flatness and load-bearing capacity. Its advantages lie in its low cost and ease of processing, but it has relatively weak moisture resistance and is suitable for use in dry environments.
  2. Steel-wood composite structure: The frame is made of steel materials (such as cold-rolled steel plates), while the desktop or partition parts use wooden panels (such as particleboard or density board). This design combines the stability of steel with the aesthetic appeal of wood, commonly used in mid-range office settings.
  3. Aluminum alloy frame: Characterized by its lightweight and corrosion resistance, paired with a panel desktop (such as melamine board), suitable for modern minimalist office spaces. It is lightweight, easy to move and reconfigure, but has slightly lower load-bearing capacity than steel structures.
  4. All-steel structure: Entirely made of steel (such as square or round tubes), with a rust-proof surface treatment, featuring fire and moisture resistance, and extremely durable, commonly found in industrial-style or high-intensity use scenarios.

Surface materials directly affect the durability and aesthetic appeal of the surface, with common choices including:

  1. Double-sided high-end decorative paper: Treated with a special process, it is wear-resistant, scratch-resistant, acid and alkali resistant, high-temperature resistant, and stain-resistant, suitable for high-frequency use areas.
  2. Melamine board (particleboard base): Made by pressing wood shavings with adhesive, covered with a melamine surface, it is wear-resistant, scratch-resistant, and easy to clean, but has average moisture resistance and should avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.
  3. High-density fiberboard (HDF): With a higher density than ordinary MDF, it has greater strength and can be veneered or painted on the surface, with a texture close to that of solid wood, but at a higher cost.

Partition materials are used to divide space and enhance privacy, with common types including:

  1. Aluminum alloy frame paired with transparent or frosted materials (such as acrylic or tempered glass): Ensuring spatial transparency while effectively blocking่ง†็บฟ (view) and noise, suitable for open office areas.
  2. Panel partitions: Made of eco-friendly density board or particleboard, covered with a wear-resistant and fire-resistant layer (such as PVC film or fire-resistant board), combining safety and practicality.

Other materials include solid wood and fruit wood materials, such as oak, poplar, and rosewood, which are solid and have beautiful textures, suitable for high-end custom furniture or cultural settings, but are costly and require regular maintenance.
